Re: General Chat About Films And That

Hmm. I don't know I'd call This is England "sentimental"! The end is a bit mushy, granted. So mushy it spoiled the whole film for me, it just left me a terribly bitter aftertaste of sentimental dung. It shouldn't have been there, not even as a vague idea while writing the film. I have no effing clu...

Re: General Chat About Films And That

Hmmm. I LOVE Bob Hoskins. I get happy every time I see his face. He is the very goal, the reason I get older. Such a darling. And twentyfourseven was really something, heaps better than the sentimental crap known as This Is England. I did stumble upon a really terrific french film a few weeks ago. J...

Re: Anime!

i just threw all my animes out the window. Just wait til you hear the self-pitying conversation between the useless pegasus and the useless wolf... It's brilliant. I never did understand why me and my friends liked this show so much (we even had it on before going out for nights of getting shitface...

Re: Northern Soul

I like this thread, I've never really been able to understand why not all indiepop kids is obsessed with northern soul. I think there's quite a few parallels. Both 'scenes' are/were kind of underground, and feel a bit unique in their own way. Many people involved in both feel like friends and famil...

Re: shoegaze

Can I spread some love in this thread? Thanks! Aerial Love Feed They released an EP in 2003 and as far as I know that is all they ever released under that name, they changed their name later to rockethouse, and turned into a "not so good" band. I found a demo on slsk but it seems the songs on it lea...

Re: clothes

Nice, that. I've got loads of lovely stripey shirts that are like that, but I had to stop wearing them a few years ago when I realised that none of them actually fit me. I think I'm the wrong shape for shirts or something. Stripes are always hard, I'm usually safe with strongly coloured thin stripe...

Re: clothes

Question... Where are the men? Latest favourite shirt! At first I was a bit worried it would look a bit "too much" on me, but it worked out fine and it is (in my not so humble opinions) a drop dead gorgeous shirt. With a pair of black suit pants (flat front), just a shame I can't use my beige clarks...

Fules be the ones who buys bread... want something good, then it is DIY that is the agendum. standard bread, graham flour. grahamsbullar here in swedeland. They weren't indiepop enough so i added some flair... (Y) http://lh5.ggpht.com/_DgF78Z1BXwA/SZv7IkRbdnI/AAAAAAAAAS8/nTb7dBmVveU/s640/breadediaow...

Re: clothes

I guess the pricing can't be that different from here, anywhere actually. I paid around 8 gbp for shortening a pair of trousers, it's not that bad. Try to find some old granny who does it from her home, they're a force to be reckoned with. Watch out for the knees and down though, I don't know the te...

Monsieur Minimal - Smile

I get some serious sarah, theygoboom!! and some of that swedish pop from the late 90's feelings from some of his tracks. I like it! The production is a bit too polished but, one could always hope he just throws all songs into a mudbath at some point.

Re: what is the CHEESIEST song you really love

this song is dreadful, but i love it. OH NO YOU DON'T! This is made out of solid greatness and doesn't belong in this thread. They would have to expand the very definition of cheesy to be able to include this one in it. Your love is right, your categorisation of the song you love is wrong though. I...

Re: what book are you reading?

The Picture of Dorian Gray. I stole it from a friend a long time ago, he got angry when I admitted to stealing it and not having read it yet. He said that the not reading it part hurt him greatly and felt like a slap in the face. So in order to kiss and make up, I'm now reading it. I hope we can bec...
