Re: A thread about putting on DIY gigs

I should think it's to do with festivals - it's pretty much impossible to even _apply_ to play most medium sized festivals, let alone get booked, if you don't have a booking agent, unless you go in via the "New Talent" spot (where nobody sees you and you don't get paid!). I suppose festival organise...

Re: The Beatles!

I've finished it! I _did_ get it the week it came out though, and PLOUGHED through. It's AMAAAAAAZING, especially if you have read LOADS of other Beatles books as you can keep grabbing your other half and going "No, no, listen! This is a complete rewriting of the accepted history!" because people LO...

The list is THUS: Gums Robberie Slum Of Legs JimBob Being 747 Geoffrey And The Livingstones Sweet Baboo Sev...

Re: Your Indietracks 2014 wishlist

with indietracks (and not this wish list), I do get surprises, and I disagree with mark it's absolutely not the same year on year, elements are, there's a familiarity to it sure but there's always surprises, new faces, new ways of doing stuff, new experiences, improvements and it just keeps getting...

Re: Your Indietracks 2014 wishlist

There should be more new bands on the 'list', the fact that there isn't, is pretty sad - whilst not dissing the bands that have been requested because there are many on the list that a) I love and b) I may have even wished for. People can only vote for bands they've actually heard of. If a band has...

Re: Your Indietracks 2014 wishlist

I love most of the bands from the top 33 but I can't help but thinking that it's a bit depressing that so many people want to see bands that already played Indietracks quite a lot in the past. ^^^^^THIS Just to be clear, you're going to the same festival as last year, organised by the same team, ru...

Was it "Well Gosh" or something? I remember there being lots of shops selling suede jackets on the first floor, did they sell records too? I spent most of my time in there in the bookshop and the Slightly Odd cafe, also Final Frontier. Aaah, i can SMELL the dampness and suede jackets even now, it wa...

Just the other bands should mean there's a bigger audience than my last gig in Manchester. Here they are, in full:

That was BRILLIANT! So nice to be back at an actual GIG after two weeks of comedy, especially to see such GRATE bands. Especially impressed with Gums on their first gig, and Just Joans as amazing as ever. Also, thanks for playing "Belle & Sebastian - THE GOOD EARLY STUFF" as requested!
