Re: Swimming

I finally bought myself a proper swimsuit last night so I went for a quick swim after my normal workout this morning. The pool is actually really nice. I didn't swim for long as I was already quite tired from doing weights, but it felt good just doing 10 lengths so I think I'll try to make a habit o...

Re: Rum! Yummy, Wonderful Rum!

I'm really rather partial to Sailer Jerry's. It's so sweet and delicious and I adore it with ginger beer. I also love Mount Gay rum. Really smooth. Sounds like I'd be taken with Brugal too. Must look out for it...

Re: clothes

I tried on the BEST pair of jeans yesterday. There was no tag on them but I took them from a sale rale in House Of Fraser along with a couple of other pairs (including some Sevens that definitely were in the sale). Of the three, the tagless ones were by far the best and I crossed my fingers and aske...

Re: gin!

Lately I have been drinking rather a lot of gin. My local serves Hendricks and tonic over cucumber and I really rather like it. They ran out last week though. I'd obviously been in a bit too often. Ahem. Anyway, I searched out a thread about booze and was particularly pleased to see this one dedicat...

also: http://typophile.com/files/aasans_3574.gif (Didot & Helvetica) This reminds me... does anyone ever write a's like that? I've only just seen this. I write mine like that, yeah. I don't recall when I started or why, but I simply cannot get out of the habit now. My "e" is more like a little roun...

Re: clothes

I agree too. If you're wearing something that looks that good, then you're dressing appropriately for your age. I find I'm more adventurous with what I wear now than I was ten years ago because I'm aware of what suits me and what I can't get away with and I feel more confident now. I don't feel the ...

Re: London Popfest 26/02-1/03

I'm not popfesting anymore, sadly. I'm still feeling really poorly so I think I need some quiet time this weekend to recuperate properly. If anyone wants a free 4 day ticket, I can give you my booking ref. and it's all yours. Meh.

Re: clothes

I think you should go for a compromise. Keep the white/blue dress and return the black one. The white one is absolutely adorable on you! I love the neckline and button detail. Have I persuaded you yet? Yup. What she said. I love the blue and white one so I vote you keep that and return the black on...

Re: Nottingham

I can confirm that pancakes made with rice flour are suitably delicious. We had them with a delicious herby chicken, mushroom and stilton filling. I was far too full to contemplate lemon & sugar pancakes after though so it doesn't feel like I have experienced pancake day. Hmph.

Re: Nottingham

*is there a difference between pancakes and crepes? crepe just means pancake in french, so i'm a bit confused. I think the term crepes is used sometimes to differentiate between proper pancakes (lovely thin ones aka crepes) and the rather chunkier american pancakes (also lovely I suppose in their o...

Re: Nottingham

I do like a lemon and sugar pancake actually. In fact, I can usually only handle one chocolate and banana type and then the rest are lemon and sugar. And it absolutely has to be jif lemon, from the little lemon shaped plastic thing. It wouldn't be pancake day otherwise. I might attempt a savoury pan...

Re: Nottingham

I'm rather concerned that gluten free pancakes will be a massive let down, but I think I'll give 'em a go anyway because I do love a pancake and I think even a rubbish pancake is better than no pancake at all. With chocolate and banana and a tiny splash of dark rum. Hell yes. Lisa, lovely, I'm feeli...

Re: Yoga

I'm going to a yoga class tonight for the first time in years. Hope it's a good one. If not, I'm starting some ji ap sul massage treatment on monday at a yoga centre just the other side of town. I'll get to see one of the classes taking place and if that seems any good I could always sign up there. ...

I blended it with egg and olive oil then mixed in some gluten free flours (mixture of tapioca, rice and potato flours) along with baking powder, bicarb of soda and xantham gum. Nom!

Re: Baking (bread and stuff)

Turns out grated carrot could be the secret ingredient that makes gluten free baking acceptable. I made funny lookng but absolutely scumptious flat bread type stuff over the weekend to have with tapas. Couldn't taste carrot at all but the texture was vastly better than most gluten free doughs I've t...
