Re: The Wednesday Club/Seven Inches/City Yelps - Leeds 27/04

Whooo! Thanks to everyone who came out for this. After costs, John from the Wednesday Club was able to donate over an hundred pounds to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Wednesday Club are great live with this line-up so don't miss them at the OddBox weekender. A great night. Apologies for our ...

Re: The Wednesday Club/Seven Inches/City Yelps - Leeds 27/04

Yeah we're playing an all dayer there on the 4th of may as well. It's mainly hard rock bands but we're confident we can be louder and more unhinged than any of them. Plus September Girls are playing later that night at Don't Falter so I'm gonna go to that after. It'll be a fun day!

The Wednesday Club/Seven Inches/City Yelps - Leeds 27/04

The Wednesday Club make a rare appearance in Leeds on Saturday. In fact, it's their only other appearance outside the Odd Box weekend this year. Come and flick peanuts at them, I think one of them has a peanut allergy. Also appearing is East End Park art-pop hero/ines The Seven Inches. With their la...

Stoked for the new Dick Diver and Real Numbers records. Today I'm listening to The Orange, Exploding Budgies, Goblin Mix and Tall Dwarfs. PS: Hi Smiller!

It'd be great if they just drove one of the indietracks trains to Derby to pick people up. That'd be fucking ace!

Re: Veronica Falls

VF are a good band but it's indiepop whether they think so or not. Like MBV pretending that their EP's on Kaleidoscope and Lazy had frequencies that 'purposely fucked up indie kids hearing' (anyone remember that interview?). I personally think they should go the whole hog and introduce that shuffly ...

Re: 2013, then

I'm going to be very skint this year as Captured Tracks are re-issuing the Flying Nun back catalogue in their original 7", 12" and Lp forms. But I'm going to be very happy though.

Re: 2013, then

I popped into a recording studio in Leeds just before christmas to drop something off and Johanna Gruesome were due in that morning to start working on their LP.

I second Simon Bish. I'd like to see Black Time too. I think the kids'd dig em. Love Triangle are great power pop and they'd be a great band to see at indietracks.

Re: does the music ever win (even when the creator is a tool

Unless a person is a dick to me personally, it doesn't really make any difference. If it did, I don't think I'd ever listen to Lou Reed! I think it's weirder when someone who's music you can't stand turn out to be really nice people. I work with bands at a venue and sometimes work as a roadie and so...

No shit! Is that the 'The Homosexuals Record' on Recommended? How much is he selling them for? I'm in London in two weeks so may have to phone and get them to put one away.

Re: Messthetics

I'm addicted to the Messthetics, series it's the great lost link between post-punk and the C86 era. I don't know if this has been mentioned on the forum before but the re-issue of Happy Refugees 'Last Chance Saloon' is well worth picking up. The description 'the link between Swell Maps and June Brid...

I'd third City Yelps - whoever they are.

Silver Fox
Nature Set

And if there were any way of getting them from Australia, The Twerps! -----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww1sXbdd ... ure=relmfu

Re: Melodicas and glockenspiels in indiepop?

Ehhhh, your mileage may vary. I find glockenspiels harder to play than most other keyed instruments and I hate using them live, purely because you aren't using your fingers so you don't get tactile feedback and actually have to keep an eye on what you're doing. I mean I guess you could argue that k...

Re: Melodicas and glockenspiels in indiepop?

melodicas are actual instruments of satan! I'm guessing people use them as they're easy to get a tune out of though. Glockenspiels are pretty much the same easiness-wise. hand someone any of these instruments and they'll nail the guitar solo at the end of 'Velocity Girl' within minutes. Try it for y...
