Re: LDN 22/11 The Spook School+Witching Waves+DK4+Actual Cri

This was wonderful. Whenever I watch the Spook School play, I end up standing there marvelling at the unlikely beauty of people I don't know. What's that all about?

I'm pretty sure I'm still hungover too. <3 Triffids <3

Can't meet that early but let me know where you are and I'll come and find you as soon as I can.

Re: Please help identify a song!

Very obvious request I think. It's on the tip of my tongue. It goes something like: 'I used to X (sing?) to make you happy Now I won't make that mistake again. Girl power Girl power Girl power' It's super gentle and melodic with some light rhythmic piano in the background. Very simple stuff. The vo...

I'm crazy about it. I'm also weak and wistful, and 'Cheap Shots in the Bless' and 'Bad Plan' in particular are destroying me.

Re: general reading and book related things

Yes yes yes. Watched it on Sunday night and I'm still reeling from the intensity of it. From the perspectives, the energy emanating from his recordings, the deep sadness, the fishing... and yeah, Frieda Hughes' warmth and wit. The way her determined serenity sort of redeemed the overbearing Crow rea...

Re: Camera Obscura

As far as obituaries go, the one in the Scotsman today is wonderful, going into detail about what books Carey liked and the little ways in which her love of reading made it into the life of the band. Hope her friends and family get some comfort from such thoughtful tributes.

How did I miss this before? MY GOD.

The sparseness of the strumming on that first verse of Mary's Song. So bloody grand. And, y'know, everything else.

I promise I'll stop in a minute.

Re: The Aislers Set

Right, I've been drinking and I never quite read emails properly but it looks like the bundle is nearly sold out. Anyone up for getting it or should we wait until the general release? I'm not too fussed about the colour vinyl - just want to be able to put it on the turntable and fill my head with ho...

Who fancies doing a combined order so we can save on postage? I need this.

Can't stand 'Party Fears Two' but in 1994 someone screamed at me for saying so and I've been hiding my feelings ever since. You can't say anything these days without going to prison etc.

Re: what book are you reading?

Finished A Home at the End of the World the other day. It floored me. Every sentence a gift. It's an absolute gem. I can't even explain it. Just love. It really is. The question is, where do you go from there? Might have to read a phone directory to calm down a bit. Can you still get those? No-one ...
