If you're looking for "dirty bluesy", go for it.

Re: Guitars

I have a 360, and I can say that it's a beautifully crafted guitar, and it plays like a dream. The lowest action you'll ever see, great tones and great looks. It's very different from a Gretsch, though they have some similarities in construction, semiacoustic bodies, single coil pickups, but one is ...

No one with any common sense has ever taken them seriously. I haven't read a music magazine since 1992.

Re: Guitars

As a matter of interest, is there an agreed opinion on the goodness/otherwise of the kind of guitar I play? It's one of those Ibanez Artcore ones that look like this http://www.imuso.co.uk/directory/images/reviewpix/ibanez-artcore-afs75t.jpg I quite like it, but I've never actually really played a ...

Re: Phil Wilson/The June Brides

" Every sound, from each transmission, is stored away to be re-written ". I can't really sue anyone for plagiarism after having confessed my own sins in that one! I've done it plenty of times myself too. One can't help it. There are only 7 notes to go around after all. "Good artists copy. Great art...

Re: Phil Wilson/The June Brides

The Manic Street Preachers also do a version of "Josef's Gone" - not on the tribute album. Their versions is actually called "Motorcycle Emptiness"! They totally stole the chords...I would sue, but I kind of borrowed Josef's Gone from Roxy Music ("Pyjamarama") and Josef K in the first place ;-) REM...

Yay for yesboyicecream for releasing the comp, and for Phil for writing the songs in the first place. I'm honoured to be in that comp. Don't let that stop you from buying it, though.;)

Re: the rileys

I've been looking for their stuff for ages too. I even bought a cd by the wrong Rileys. It was an ebay auction, and I stupidly bought it without asking any questions. So I ended up with a horrible country music cd. Nothing against country music, but this was particularly awful.

Re: Phil Wilson/The June Brides

Yeah! Miserable night, 8 people in the audience (and 4 of them were in the support band!), no money and we broke down on the way home! I haven't been back to Southampton since :-) Jesus, you need to be a hero to keep on going. I've never had any experiences nearly as bad, and I still tossed aside t...

Re: They should have released less...

If Weezer had broken up after releasing the sweater song that would have been pretty much the greatest back catalogue ever, but they had to ruin it by carrying on. I know this will cause a few raised eyebrows and accusations of being waaay wrong, but PJ Harvey should have called it quits after Rid ...

I don't because there's at least a couple of great songs every time. You Are The Quarry was actually good.

Adrian Borland + The Sound

One of the many underrated bands in the 80's. Adrian Borland is one of my favourite songwriters, on account of his solo alone. I'm not a big fan of The Outsiders of of The Sound, though both have their moments, but Adrian Borland solo is brilliant. His Alexandria is one of my most cherished collecta...

new strings solve almost everything. i wish i'd noticed this sooner. when i got new strings for my bass (for the first and only time) it suddenly sounded like... a piano or something - really full and... i don't know what the word is... "chunggg-y" is the nearest i can think of, and that's not even...

i need to get my hi-fi fixed, as it only barely lets me listen to CDs and not at all to vinyl or cassettes. that's one of the four reasons why i mostly listen to music on the computer (the others being ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS, last.fm and that i spend most of my spare time on the internets). if i had a l...

REM should have stopped after Document. Though Monster is good.

The Stones should have quit after Sticky Fingers.
