Re: So, vinyl...

I've been meaning to get myself a new turntable for ages. I have largish 7" collection that I can't listen to currently unless I download the songs from the internet. I also have some rare LPs that I doubt can be found in any format anymore, like Adrian Borland's Alexandria , which is a brilliant al...

Re: Guitars

Wow. How long did you play those old strings? I usually change strings after a month, if I'm playing everyday. There's nothing better than a fresh set of strings. Even on bass guitar. But those are way to expensive to change regularly.

Re: Pelle Carlberg

Pelle Carlberg is one of the very few current songwriters I admire and respect. Though I think the whole "you criticized me so I wrote a song to humiliate you" thing is getting old. Ballboy did it before more tastefully, he didn't need to do it. It's mildly amusing, but does more against than for hi...

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

I've been telling myself that having only one amp is extremely limiting. If you're recording, you've got to have a least a couple of amps, unless you want a record that sounds the same all over. The only way to avoid this is to fiddle with it incessantly, which is a pain.

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

BAH!!! It looks like mine (a Kenwood KR-V 5090) has packed in... :( THere was a power cut here last night...the whole street was off for about half an hour. Since then, it's stuck in 'Protect Mode' (a sort of standby thing). I've checked/unplugged the speakers, but, no joy. :) Blown fuse, maybe? Or...

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

The Special 112 is awful. I've played it before plenty of times. It sucks at both low and high volumes. I'm glad it's not just me then... or am I? If no-one likes it I won't be able to sell it, and I think I should probably sell it and buy something better. Bleh. Nah, some sucker will certainly tak...

Re: Guitars

I'm planning on putting my thinline tele on ebay, but I'd feel like I was ripping someone off because of it's awful action. Just make it clear in the description that it needs setting up. You can do it yourself, though. It's not that hard, and it's very useful to know how to do it. You can get a bo...

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

my main amp is a Peavey Special 112, which i don't really like. i just googled it, and apparently it's 160w, which i didn't know (bought it secondhand). that probably explains why it sounds so... blah at low volumes. plus i think it was designed for someone who wants a heavier tone than i do, and t...

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

Why do you say that nobody uses ebay anymore? Is that a fact. I mean, I haven't used it myself in a while. Speaking of amps, I have been using a Crate Vintage Club 20 watter amp for years. I replaced its factory tubes with fancy NOS ones. Sounds quite good. It doesn't like my Strat though. It loves ...
