Correct.
Oh I meant the album as a whole! That song's damn good, mind (though probably my least favourite thing on there...). All these amazing frustrations, such a perfect celebration...

That looks fantastic. I was a massive fan of the first one - Luke Haines as a spirit guide? Yes please! - so this looks like it's going to be just as good, if slightly more contemporary. Veeeery interesting...

Re: sleeper - my suspicions

i don't like sleeper anymore, but ruddy sleeper weekend on xrrf made me listen to statuesque again and i'm now obsessed by the non-musicalness of the guitar part in the chorus. it's not just rubbish, it's wrong somehow, even though the notes are probably in the right scale. i'm now convinced this s...

Re: what book are you reading?

er, i haven't got a copy anymore and i have no recollection what happened to it. i actually tried to buy a copy in waterstones on friday but they claimed it was out of print. which i think is balls because they reissued all his books on picador to coincide with the release of the coe biography. so ...

Re: Sex & Violins - The Jake Shillingford & My Life Story Thread

Mornington Crescent is quite simply one of the best albums of the 90s. The Golden Mile is patchy, but does have some great singles (though the redone version of Sparkle isn't a patch on the original...). I think I gave my copy of the third album away...

Re: TV Quick: talk about things on telly succinctly

Clone High is quite possibly the greatest cartoon in the history of TV. Why this never made it to British TV (or at least got snuck out on DVD over here) I will never know.

Re: Luke Haines

OHMYGODTHATLOOKSLIKETHEBESTTHINGEVER I'd heard about it anyway, but that cover has just absolutely cemented it. This could potentially be the best book ever. Incidentally, this is a nice coincidence, as I was listening to "Off My Rocker..." on my way into work this afternoon. Absolutely fantastic al...

There's Nothing Wrong With Covers - Brixton, this Sunday!

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH COVERS A half-day spectacular showcasing the cream of the current crop of British alt-rock, and paying tribute to the American greats of the late 80's and early 90's that influenced them. Bands will play a minimum of two covers each by their chosen band, interwoven with th...

I fully expect to be the only person to answer this sincerely... Sleeper, because The It Girl is still a fantastic album, and Louise Wener's first novel is, dare I say it, fantastic.

Re: The Wave Pictures

ignoring the lyric that i don't like, does anyone else get the bass solo thing? does he do that on the album? There is the odd bass solo, but it's not as high in the mix, and it tends to just be reduced to a few seconds at the end of the song. That's the thing about the Wave Pictures on record comp...

The outdoor stage to become the main stage.

I absolutely agree with whoever wants Helen Love the band. That would rule. Go-Kart Mozart too, please.

Re: Things I am listening to now then

That's for sure. I've always been partial to Grant, but for some reason this particular album made me enjoy Forster more, not that it's better than any other of theirs. The bonus live disc is pretty cool too. That's what I thought when I finally got into the album - "Darlinghurst Nights" in particu...

Re: Indietracks 2008 photos and memories

By the way, if you think that breakfast cob looks bad, you should've seen Concrete's burger from the cafe. It looks like a Wagon Wheel... I knew those nasty-looking things looked like something that wasn't a burger! It was just like a Wagon Wheel in a bun (but not quite as tasty), wasn't it? From t...

That was just all too lovely for words. I'm going to attempt to collate my thoughts in prose form in some form of blog (he says pointing at his website icon by his avatar etc), so hopefully you guys don't mind me stealing the odd photo for it. I'll credit you and such, obviously. :-) Once I've done ...

I know I'm new here, but fuck it - I'll be staying at the Alfreton Travelodge over the weekend too. Those of you who know me from Bowlie (and those who don't), do say hello if you recognise me or something.
