Urgh, it's so depressing that this thing is still on. When will they stop doing this?

It's not so much the actual show as much as the fucking Big Brother's E4 Wannabe Presenters Unfunny Hours Of NOTHING Around The Show Shows and the all day every day live feeds, sans sound anyway. Brrrrr. It's not about disliking a show in general as much as just feeling bummed out that it gets to take up such an enormous amount of time every time it's on.

If you thought that was bad enough, they've got rent-a-tits George Lamb and Justin Lee Collins presenting the spin-off shows this year. Not together, thankfully.

I thought you would be down with Big Brother, Astrid!

I wonder if Dennis is gay?

I have been! There are aspects of trashy television that I enjoy - especially Blind Date With Roger Lodge, The Hills and very scripted dating shows from around 2003 like Exposed - but there are some that I have watched in the past but that nowadays just feel a bit pointless.

I think it has to do with a feeling of not wanting to waste my summer on stuff I don't really care about or that teach me anything.

George Lamb - is he that poor man's Vernon Kay with a bit of a Klaxons wannabe quality to him on E4?

Jesus Christ, that is about the most damning indictment of anyone I've ever heard. The only think that would come close would be describing someone as "the poor man's Chris Moyles".

Anyway, back on topic - about half an hour ago I walked past the living room and heard someone say Big Brother in that "big bruvverrr" kind of way. So I scarpered.

Edit to clarify: it wasn't someone in my house saying it, it was my housemate watching it on the tellybox.

I think he used to, or still does, present that Freshly Squeezed thing on C4.

He's so objectionable that he's had to have a part of his Wikipedia page devoted to 'negative press'. Or strongly-worded negative feedback, if you prefer. In fact, one of them isn't too far from what Andy has just said:- Guardian, 24 January 2008: "But the last time I tuned in - forgive me, I forget the show - it was like overhearing a group of dull blokes in the pub. Imagine Chris Moyles, but without the humour."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lamb_(presenter" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Most of them do that awful 'big bruvvva' thing. There do seem to be a few not completely hatable ones this year, but it remains to be seen I suppose. Oh, and there's a blind guy in there. Perhaps he'll turn out not to be blind at all and be on a 'secret mission' - hilarious!

Dennis's teeth are scaring me - he looks like Chucky from Childsplay.

Apparently the blind guy is from my home town, and gay. My dad texted me to say, 'how many disabilites can one man have?'. Ah, homosexuality as disability. Thanks for that, dad.

But it is true. They shitty successful people have a billion wannabe people who aspire to be them, but they come in even worse forms. Brrrrr. Especially when they watch or listen to their shows, and start dreaming about being as "funny" or "talented". It's a slippery talentless slope.

so far i like darnell best. he seems a bit more normal than the rest of them.

I will never understand the appeal of Chris Moyles. Even if he says something that could be considered vaguely amusing, everything else he utters and his general persona are so abhorrent that it just ends up surrounded by this forcefield of negativity. I really wish people wouldn't encourage him by giving him awards. Or airtime. I only have to hear him open his mouth and I want to do a Van Gogh to both of my ears so I don't have to tolerate it any longer.

That's an interesting outfit Cat's got on. Where do you buy clothes like that? I thought Darnelle seemed a bit odd.

I think they should all tie their tits to their bollocks. The little Frank Spencer lad is my favourite. Until he reveals he's a Tory.

I like the little politician lad too - at least he seems to have a brain.

At least you don't have to look like Chucky! My sister looked like Bride of Chucky when she was a toddler - she had this massive head and all this white-blonde hair. She doesn't look like that now thankfully.

My current favourite is probably Luke the Lee Evans Frank Spencer politics student one, or maybe Sylvia the one who described herself as trendy. I thought it was funny when Davina revealed that Mario's real name is Sean. Oh, I think even I've possibly had enough of Big Brother, possibly. I don't think I'll last the whole 12 weeks or whatever it is. I was hoping they'd go back to putting bland 28 year old office workers from Crawley in like in the first series. Ooh, I yearn for the days when the most exotic person was a subdued skateboarding nun. Every year 16 new screaming banshees. I don't understand how these people conduct themselves on a daily basis and get through their lives with all that screaming. It's like they've never met anyone new ever before.

I don't plan to watch even a single second of this, but luckily I will still get regular updates on every ultra-mundane thing that happens, filtered through casual racism, thanks to the people I work with. Thanks, television!

I watched it a bit last night, rather than be repulsed by the contestants it was the crowd that plumbed new depths of absurdity and fucktardedness

when that luke got out the van- he's the young tory student in the george from asda suit who's a wrestling announcer and doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs- some utter utter fuckwit in the crowd, without a trace of irony, roared out 'get a life!'

they also seemed to boo sylvia and mohammed for being refugees

sylvia is lurvely, there's also that other one with the impressive can

oh, and that hateful twat who got turned down by man utd aged 10 ('they were all about a passing and with my game, well, I don't roll like that, bitch') who explained 'if there's any fanny in there, I'm going to nail it' and professed to not talking to ugly people as 'there's no point', he may be the most ridiculous alpha male figure since the rapist last year or that maxwell louse or who was that other one? the black lad who hung around with scottish thong boy a few series back? well, anyway, the crowd loved this oaf and they loved the vegetarian part-time model who loves babies and fetuses and hates immigrants

the gangster albino, the cross-dressing blind boy, the thai masseur who 'loves leaving skidmarks in the toilet' (did davina really say that?) and
the deluded possibly terrified blinged up strawberry blond gordon ramsey wrongalike are all in the usual big brother tradition

as is the big boobed brassy bird wearing a t-shirt as a dress, she's a big brother staple (two rusted through her stomuch, the pages stuck together), as was her hysterical screaming

sylvia told her to 'calm down', she didn't though

even so, I like sylvia, she's urban

as ever the real fun for me is the endless pronouncements from folk that big brother is not as good as it used to be; is shit; is not worth watching, and that they definitely won't be watching it this series

good call on dennis as chucky, woodbine, why do big brother only ever insist on recruiting the sort of gay men who appear only in the very recesses of the imaginations of seventies sitcom writers and richard littlejohn's frenzied wankbank?

Me neither. Can't we have a big-bro free forum and pretend it's just a recurring nightmare? Please?

The rapist?

I will not be watching it this year, I tried last year (after not watching it since about 2001) but then I realised it was very boring.

I do look forward to all your comments though. I will absorb it vicariously.
