Who the fuck is Bob Wyman?

What was the shitcom where the eponymous couple had annoying middle class neighbours with a son called Tristram? Or something. Yeah that was shit. I am possibly thinking Terry and June, or perhaps George and Mildred or maybe Bless This House.

Anything with Derek Nimmo in it was bobbins too.

I also think a Ronnie Hazlehurst theme tune is automatic exemption from shitcom status.

I think George and Mildred is the first telly programme I was aware of. I was transfixed by Yootha Joyce's bosom.

Come on, greatest theme and title sequence in sitcom history, especially as it tells you absolutely nothing about the programme.

The guitar in that sounds like a duck asking a question.

Did anyone see that programme about Sorry the other night?

This hasn't even started airing yet and already it sounds like a Shitcom.

Oh, apparently it's a drama. I'm sure I saw it described as a comedy elsewhere.

aw, I liked george and mildred... it was spin off from man about the house

for americans, man about the house = three's company/george and mildred = the ropers (as I understand it)

yootha joyce like pat phoenix had quite an effect of my 70's kid psyche... and morrissey's too, although he would've been about 30 then

now then, was robin's nest about the same character richard o'sullivan played in man about the house?

heh heh, the dishwasher only had one arm... brilliant

my two dads!

it's a girl! with two dads!
so they're gay then? funny. no! this is 1987! all gays have AIDs and/or are in frankie goes to hollywood. gays aren't funny. and this is made by disney! no! what's actually happened is in a massively illegal custody settlement the following occurs:

"The show begins when (slutty) Marcy Bradford, the mother of Keanan's character, dies. The two men who had competed for the woman's affections (played by Reiser and Evigan) before her daughter Nicole was born had been awarded joint custody. The mix-ups of two single straight men raising a teenaged daughter provided the story each week."

aha. two straight men? raising a child? a human child? a human girl child? edgy as fuck.

yes, that is Greg Evigan star of BJ and the bear. that's not a gay film thing either. unless you count a man being in love with his truck as gay. and i don't. i think that's just fine.

There's so much going on around Greg Evigan's face and head there. It's like a magic eye picture - the more you look at it the more you see. Beard - check; quiff - check; mullet - check. It's stunning.

Paul Reiser looks terrified...or that he's just shat himself. Or both.

i know. it's especially sad when you compare the haunting busyness of his early busy face with his current badly maintained monstrosity. i weep i weep.

was there something called 'major dad' about a dad with a family of teen girls and he was a strict military man (a major, in fact) and forever having to battle through washing lines full of panties and bras (I may have imagined this) and opening up his briefcase to pull out top secret documents and finding a copy of 'girly bras' monthly or offering a cigar to a colonel but he's offering him a tampon by mistake?

and there'd be a moral at the end

they always had a moral at the end... different strokes loved a moral

was 'major dad' anything like I remembered it or have invented all that?

Nobody loved a moral more than Fresh Prince of Bel-Air though. Apparently drugs are bad, being true to yourself is good and nothing is ever without consequences.

That episode of the Fresh Prince where Carlton was on ecstasy was magnificent.

WHAT?

I missed that. Although I was nine when it was on, maybe I just missed the, I am sure, very "subtle" reference.

Or that was a joke.

What about the one where Will has a fake wedding to get a girl to sleep with him (moral: people with strict religious views are sometimes really stupid)?

Or where Carlton wasn't black enough for the hip-hop fraternity (moral: Republicans are people too)?
Toot toot.
