Morecambe and Wise

Post by kingofpartick » Mon Sep 22, 2008 00:15

we are currently watching the 1972 Morecambe and Wise Christmas show.

there is a box set that came out last year of all the BBC Christmas Shows, from 1969 to 1979. Genius, absolute genius.

the 1971 one was kind of the first of the proper blockbuster shows and it is proper special, but all these shows still stand up today as being the highest of quality. Even with the onslaught of Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen that they seem to involve.

I think you're hard pushed to think of a finer comedy double act ever.

ARSENAL!!

'it's nice out'

'yes, I think I'll keep it out'

punchline to joke that begins along the lines of 'two old men are sat on the prom in july'
