Great stand up comedy clips

Post by Mr Bear » Thu Sep 25, 2008 21:47

Anything welcome. As long as it's on youtube maybe.

I know this is an old one, but I just watched it for the first time in years, and I'm still wiping away tears of laughter.

about ten years after i was last mildly obsessed with him i can't stop watching stewart lee clips on youtube. out of a pool of about one he's the finest intellectual comedian who has mastered the long drawn out punchline.

he had great hair in 1998, it's always sad to see a man lose his magnificent plumage.

ANG LEE, YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M ANG LEE

you can prove anything with facts

political correctness is great (a polemic)

When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's Stick.'

Jamie. I've never really seen anything Stewart Lee has done before but I've just watched all three of those in a row and they're fucking ace. Thankyou.

Heh, that's mad. I spent an hour talking about exactly that in the office on Monday with the new boy and, because he's a big Stewart Lee fan, he played me this clip to show me that someone else thought the same. He didn't agree with me (or Stewart Lee) at all. Pfft, call yourself a fan, new boy.

I like Stewart Lee a lot. He's great. The way he talks reminds me of those early clips of Morrissey talking to school kids.

Would it be bad form to ask to merge this with Hitcoms: http://www.anorakforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... 82&p=65054" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ?
Toot toot.

To be honest I was thinking of this thread of more a place to post stand up comedy clips, and hitcoms is for TV comedy. The reason I mentioned televisual comedy was because it was in the cinema, tv and radio forum, but sod it, I'll just change the subject and first post on this one to avoid any ambiguity and keep them separate.

He's ageing with just enough grace and decorum, though, going short at the sides and just slightly greying at the temples. It makes him look like the distinguished elder gentleman of gradually sarcastic stand-up he is. I've had the opportunity to meet him twice and turned away on both occasions, thinking I'd have physically nothing to say to him.

I'd post the bit about Joe Pasquale stealing jokes here but the work PCs don't have the right Flash.

Have you seen Stu Lee on Time Trumpet? That's what he's got to look forward to.
Toot toot.
