Do they have an art director? I bet they do.

That's amazing.

I like that. I occasionally find reading his pieces to be a bit of a chore, but that's spot on.

Gameswipe last night. I give it 7/10. Lots of nice archive stuff about the subject and some interesting opinions, presented well. Feeling a bit disappointed in Graham Linehan's apparent propensity for the FPS. Slightly chopped up though totally welcome appearance by Rab and Ryan of Consolevania fame. Cue lots of moaning from nits about its perceived patronizing tone who already know the stuff being talked about.

Anyone see it?
The world is like a CD. Flat, round and you can stack it on a shelf.

I saw it, yeah. I don't know anything much about games (apart from very old ones) but I enjoyed it. Especially his bit having a massive go at 50 Cent. "What are you gonna do - come and GET ME?" Teehee. Go Charlie!

I really enjoyed Gameswipe!
I think I pretty much grinned throughout the whole thing with the occasional splutter of laughter.
It was ace to watch a program on video games on the proper telly that wasn't twatting on about the bloody Wii and was talking about REAL GAMES for a change.
I love you Charlie Brooker.
Let's play Left 4 Dead together.

I really enjoyed it too, more than I expected given I don't really have any interest in gaming.

The rant about 50 Cent was genius.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the furore over Jan Moir's offensive article (that what I done readed about on Brooker's column). Hilarious.

is anyone watching the current run of newswipe? or is it considered a bit demode to admit one digs brooker still?

take a breath

I dig him and I don't mind being considered worse than the gluey wax that builds up in the corner of a mouthbreather's mouth for doing so

the adam curtis 'we are all richard nixon now' bit last night seemed inspired but I'll be told I'm wrong and he's wrong, I'm sure, but it smelled right and that's enough for me

I also think doug stanhope is funny and bordering on righteous

now breathe out, you can all sneer at me

I'm watching it and think it's probably the best thing on telly right now. So there!
It's clever and funny, but also incredibly well made. An awful lot of work and care goes into that programme and it shows all over.
I think my favourite part this year was the unrelenting 10 minutes or so he did on Haiti last week.

I've only seen a bit of Doug Stanhope's stuff but he struck me as the new Denis Leary. Convince me of why i'm wrong...?

i like Denis Leary in The Real Blonde and that other Tom DiCillo flick, the name of whicj name escapes me... er, Double Whammy maybe? He's prob in other stuff i like too

I just think his stand-up's a bit naff

Not seen much of Stanhope in fairness, but he was sold to me as "the new Bill Hicks" which is probably why i was reminded of Leary

Anyway.

brilliant. i only know brooker from print (where he is alternately funny and annoying), but that was great.
shocking really, that fox got anything right.

i live in a vacuum, so i've not seen any coverage of haiti at all. lucky me. really.

Want to marry Charlie Brooker?

Well you can't. Not yet, anyway. Konnie Huq is.
