Wes Anderson

Post by ducky » Sun Oct 14, 2007 9:40 am

I am an unashamed Wes Anderson fan. I own the Wes Anderson box set. I like the films he makes a little too much for my own good, and I own a Team Zissou beanie.

Hotel Chevalier has convinced me further that Wes Anderson is amazing. This is down to several factors:

1) Natalie Portman naked
2) beautiful shooting, with nice colours and stuff like that
3) unrepentent use of the pop song
4) the pop song in question is Peter Sarstedt's Where Do You Go To My Lovely
5) Natalie Portman naked

Oh and Jason Schwartzman is pretty radical as well, go and watch him in Rushmore.

I could not be more excited about the Darjeeling Limited.

I'm going to see it today! I worship Wes Anderson. It's as simple as that. I'm not that bothered about Natalie Portman naked, but I'll take the Wilson brothers in any form.

If you don't mind, I'm going to make this a Wes Anderson thread--that'll give it more latitude.

i don't like jason schwartzman. he bugs me. don't get me wrong, he was great in rushmore. but everything and anything else he does is crap.
i wish they would have used luke wilson in the darjeeling limited instead. jason schwartzman doesn't do the deadpan thing nearly as good as him; he's not nearly as charming.

hey! paddington bear!

I agree entirely. And it's as if Hollywood is scared of his mother or something and everyone's afraid to tell him he's short and ugly. In Shopgirl I was like, PUHlease.

Yayyy, Wes Anderson topic, logged on and wondered where my topic had gone then spotted this at the top. The Darjeeling Limited isn't out for a little while over here in the UK, and I'm not sure whether it'll be shown locally. Hrm I think we should have a Gondry thread as well.

Best thing he ever did was that Mastercard advert.

Very moving.

An interesting essay, alleging fascist aesthetics in Wes Anderson's flicks. I don't buy it personally, but it's a good read.
