YES!

I can imagine other personalities doing lots of face pulling and coming out with 'of course I wasn't taken in for a minute' type pronouncements- making sure they keep a safe distance from the subject, often a mocking distance- but our danny really wanted to be convinced, really wanted to see something beyond his comprehension (cue cheap gag...which is presumably most things)... I liked that

Never mind - it was a "production error". No offence taken of course!

what a daft silly bollocks!

I imagine that's what passes for high wit at zoo but as you, me and all of the chaps know you never cut a bird, she can make mincemeat of your heart and even your brain but you never raise your voice or a finger let alone a blade at a lady

of course we're assuming lord danwick of dyershire actually writes that column, I'd be interested to see if and how he responds

you've let me and chris down, danny boy

sort yourself out

"This is totally out of order, I am totally devastated. I have been completely misquoted. This is not the advice I would give any member of the public I do not condone violence against women."

What could he have been aiming for if that was the misquoted version?

Possibly.

I'm sure there might be other more important things going on in the world today but I'm not convinced he wrote that, I doubt he writes any of it- it's a business deal, isn't it? a rather tawdry one admittedly but I suspect dyer gets a few quid from zoo, they use his name, for some reason the association is important to them and presumably their readers, danny trousers the money, they write what they consider dyerisms and away we go until somebody writes something stupid like that in an effort to

I've probably watched rather more danny dyer telly and film then is proper for somebody who considers themselves a pale aesthete with an appreciation of the fine arts and indeed crafts but he's never come across as quite this much of a tosser, of course I might be wrong but...

Made me rewatch that footage of him being punched though. That's always good for a laugh.
I may be ugly and hate-filled but... wait, what was the third thing you said?

It probably was ghost-written but that doesn't stop it from being his responsibility. Unless he sues them for libel.

how's it his responsibility? he doesn't edit the magazine- you're confusing a nice little earner with high faluting literature

apparently it was written by somebody called richard innes

He sells his name and then cries foul when it gets abused? He doesn't seem to have asked for any sort of approval of these thing getting published in his name. I'd say that's his oversight.

I think the problem I have with this is that the twitterati are getting their knickers in a twist but they don't read the magazine, they look down on the people that do and on danny dyer- a 'personality' who appears in films and telly programmes none of which his critics watch because they're above all that

these snobs can go and see a film like 'antichrist' and marvel at the transgressiveness of it, the shock and horror, subversiveness, blah blah blah, because they're so sophisticated and capable of disseminating what they've just seen and capable of 'understanding' it- but they take all zoo readers and fans of danny dyer's particular oeuvre as unsophisticated, crass and stupid- this herd of working class young men who are either to be pitied for their choices or sneered at and openly mocked

they assume this mob is going to read something like that and take it as read and more absurdly- because this is what the outrage is about- that somebody will believe that that is 'good advice' rather than an especially dimwitted pisstake

I imagine that most will have read that, thought 'you dirty toilet, dyer', let out an embarrassed laugh (if that) and turned the page

danny dyer will get it in the neck whatever, people like him always have, the exponents of populist low art

if I was him I'd stop taking the money from zoo, forget about 'danny dyer- the personality... and agony uncle' and stick to acting and making the odd (very odd) documentary about ufo's

the silly sausage is 32, he should be a little bit more savvy than this

I think it's more the anti-sexism brigade who think that jokes about cutting women aren't very funny.

yeh, it's not even a joke, gordon, it's just stupid but having read zoo described as a 'rape manual' today, it reads more like an exercise in withering disgust at the expense of the sort of chaps who read zoo

you can hear a lot worse than that 'joke' on the comedy circuit and by 'personalities' who are far more mainstream and 'acceptable' than danny dyer

that doesn't make what was printed in danny dyer's name any less offensive but I'm not trying to justify that, I'm wondering why he comes in for so much criticism than some other people, people who are perhaps rather more deserving

I don't know if he's an actual misogynist but I think if you sat him and down and explained how he might be perceived as one he seems the sort of fellow who'd be downright appalled

he just needs to wake up to himself

but some of what passes for discussion on the internets seems to be painting him somewhere between peter sutcliffe and fred west

Or the old (but still working) cricket commentator Geoff Boycott.

Not that he joked about belting women. Just belted a woman.

it's neither big nor clever... it's danny dyer... but I thought that was marvellous

I think dan thought 'hey up, here we go, feminist' and so he comes out with all that hackneyed nonsense about how he plays a serial killer who kills women with his shank in his latest hackneyed film presumably thinking this'll wind her up and then the journo starts telling him about her rippling legs and has he ever rippled and from then on daniel seemed charmed

if only all women were on acid, aye, danny?
