Here is a poem I wrote

Post by humblebee » Thu Nov 25, 2010 11:11

(Didn't know where to put this thread; could an admin please move it if there's somewhere better? Thanks!)

I've written a poem and I want people to read it, but I didn't want to post the text of it on Anorak, so here's a link:
http://sparklemotion.co.uk/moment.htm

I'd love to hear your comments on it, Anorak. And when I say comments, obviously I mean lavish praise and offers of hot soup.

Soup.

The romance of autumn, near winter. Really lovely, Pete. My favourite two lines are (probably predictably) 'a cyclist sculpts...obliquely on the hilltop.' I can visualise this image very well, have maybe even been in a moment like this, though not on a hilltop in my flat riverside neighbourhood.
There's more than one use for every part

Here is another poem I wrote. Recommended for admirers of fixed poetic forms, environmentalists, windsurfers, Grimbarians and Meggies.

Thank you so much, Steff.

I didn't just mean this thread to be for my poems, by the way, Anorak, so if anyone else would like to share any, post up.

Bloody Awful Poetry

Post by heidisuperhero » Sun Oct 21, 2012 19:37

It surely goes without saying that a vast number of indiepoppers must also be poets, right?

Anyone fancy sharing their poetry? If you will I will.

Well it bombed the first time around, possibly because the poem was linked rather than directly posted in the thread itself. So while I appreciate the fact that it's been tried before, I don't think we should get into a situation where in 50 years time we're bumping threads from 2001.

And if this also bombs, fair game, perhaps I was too optimistic!

Fair compromise.

Here's one I did....all feedback appreciated. :)

they call it lady’s pincushion
the field scabious
such a stark and abhorrent name
for something so incredibly beautiful
so delicate and serene
so quiet that beetles from miles around come to sit on this one flower
an antidote
a flag that blows in the wind

I had a lovely dream that Jonny had written a great poem and shared it with us here.

Aw, go on then.

I reconsidered after I posted it and worried it was a tad sixth form, but if you like it...

At Sea.

I worry now, what happens if I stop?
It's consistent, constant forward motion
That provides a surface I can float on.
Soon it will slow, or go, and I must drop
Below into the cold and crushing deep.
Still, and far more pressing than the sinking
Is the pressure born of overthinking
Dials creep. Listen; creak, creak. I dream of sleep.

Plummeting fast into the icy blue.
Past any decompression chamber's aid
I see a shade of something so like you
Sparkling, shining so brightly that I'm swayed
Seen this way it should be little wonder
Gladly I give my leave. Pull me under.

Thanks, that's very nice of you to say.

Been a while since I played with sonnets... I do like them a lot.

Sorry, didn't mean to write my previous post and run away... I can't write sonnets without resorting to ridiculous rhyming patterns. Yours is very elegant, Jonny. Lovely alliteration.

Thanks you two!

I thought I'd leave the Word spellcheck underlining in for added authenticity.
