Presumably it's something to do with Hula Hoops and canelloni. I think he might be referring to that thing said about stuffing chewed up Hula Hoops into a fresh one inside your mouth.

Or stuffing a hula hoop with bolognese and bechamel sauce.

(think it would work better with Wheat Crunchies myself)

i made a bloody lovely filano for lunch today: sun-dried tomato puree, sliced avocado, and parmesan. i think this may be the king of filano.

I have a request of the Filano Queen: could I get a pic of the knitted filano? I forgot to take one and, I dunno, I might start a cottage industry of knitted things on toast (beans on, cheese on, chipped beef on...the possibilities are endless) on etsy to fund my post indietracks brokeness. I promise you I'll never do another filano though. That's FLO (for lisa only). Thanks! x

I have been meaning to take a multitude of photos of my beautiful filano, however I only have a camera on my phone so they look a bit rubbish. I will take more and better ones when I get a camera so I can show it off properly and do it the justice it deserves. It really is the nicest present I've ever recieved, I nearly cried when I opened it.

Do you want to know something embarrassing? I sent those photos to my email address from my phone but I was confused and sent them both to thisislisa @ gmail.com which is not my email address at all. I'm blushing now. Someone's going to be very disturbed when they find they've been sent a photo of a person with boggley eyes pretending to eat knitted toast product.

You also seem to have named the picture eatmyfilanosucker! I'd be a bit worried if I received that in my inbox!

Don't think your gonna escape my on-toast sweatshop, ms. booty! It was your fine sewing skillz that put the "fil" in the "ano."

That is the best thing ever, and also it is making me hungry for filano!

Honestly, filano is the best snack invention ever. I eat it all the time!

Although at one point I went a bit heavy on it all and had 12 triangle bits (or six pieces of toast) in one go. I did NOT feel good.

I always make mine with sliced mushrooms, Tesco Value Dried Herb Mix (the best! And only 18p!) and cheese with my special small cheese grater. Filano makes me so happy, it's so perfect when you want something small but food-y, and can't be bothered to make a whole meal.

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't think I've ever eaten a true filano. Does using ciabatta count as a filano base? Anyway, I think that the next time I'm making roasted cheese I'm going to modify it into a filano. In fact I think I'll have it for dinner tonight. The knitted filano has inspired me!

Sorry if this has already been brought up/answered ... but is there really such a thing as a Filano or is it a uniquely Anorak invention? Not a bad one I'd add, but I never heard of one. You used to get frozen "Pizza" on a piece of toasted French stick in Tescos or wherever, but I'm pretty sure it was called French Bread Pizza or somesuch.

i still don't fucking know what a filano is. is it like a tagaleri? i'm knibble's oldest and best friend in the world and i've still never had one. nor has she ever made me a milkshake. and i have to do my own coffees when i go over. no wonder i leave the seat up.

is your signature a tribute to the beastie boys?

It's a real shame about you, isn't it? It's you I feel sorry for in this whole thing.

No. It's my name in French.

Filano can also be a state of mind. I've never seen/eaten one, but I knit one. I think I know the essence of experiencing filano without consuming filano.

Indeed, you are filanesque, Marcy. I've often said it.

I had my first filano last week. Or so I thought. Astrid made it and I was utterly disappointed. Not with the actual snack - it was delicious - but the fact that it's just a toastie made in the oven, a bit like a croque-monsieur or exactly what we in Sweden call a "warm sandwich". So it turns out I've had filanos all my life without knowing it. I obviously feel cheated.
