A Vodka Charlotte (Zubrówka with apple juice) is lovely and a Bloody Mary is scrumptious! I’ll be starting with one of those later today at my friend’s 40th birthday meal.

Is is wrong to want to drink Vodka at 10 on a Sunday morning? I'd love one RIGHT NOW!
Morning! I stopped myself from drinking on my own at home last night although I had some lovely fresh lemon juice to go with the vodka and now you're making me regret it. Ooh, if you start now, you'll be dreamy and off the planet by teatime tonight. Hmmm. Some toast first though, eh?

Vodka and Apple juice? ???!!!!!!
I had never contemplated it.
However this evening I have found myself wanting an alcoholic beverage. All there is in the Flat is ....Vodka and applejuice......Here goes! I shall give my verdict later.

Surprisingly nice!
Vodka is still slightly overpowering. That could be the vodka:apple juice ratio.

isn't that a drink at vodka revolution? i'm sure i've had it somewhere...

anyway, i was at a restaurant the other night that had a cocktail list that gave me the giggles. It included the "Yanbaru sling" and "ni-ni Collins". They were both awamori cocktails. Yanbaru is a region of Okinawa, and ni-ni is an Okinawan nickname for older brother.

I'm sure apple juice and vodka is fine, but the Vodka Charlotte isn't any old vodka, it has to be Zubrowka - which is Bison Grass Vodka - there is something about the apple and bison grass combo that makes it taste exactly like Apple Charlotte (the pudding), hence the name. It's very nice indeed. I expect apple juice and vodka would mostly taste like apple juice with an alcoholic kick.

Edit: and I'm not 100% sure, but fairly sure it needs to be the cloudy sort of apple juice.

in my time as "drinks bitch" working the blender in a cafe i learned that apple is the easiest juice to mix. we used it to bulk drinks out or to take the edge off other flavours, cos when it's mixed with other stuff it just has a nice background flavour.. sort of like stock, but for nice drinks.

applr+cranberry+vodka=yum.

maybe i sqaid this up there somewhere but it's worht repeating: gin and pineapple juice!

I just love red wine. I could forgo every other drink in the world and be happy only drinking red wine, I'm certain of it.

There was a time in my early twenties when I thought I might possibly like red wine even more than beer, but I'm over that now. :)

You know what's super awesome? Vanilla vodka and apple juice! Damn, I haven't had that in ages. Do most bars have vanilla vodka? I'm not so sure. And it's not something I'd keep in as I'd use it so infrequently.

It was cloudy Apple juice but not the right vodka. You were indeed right that it tasted of apple juice with an alcholic kick!

It doesn't go off, though. I've got a bottle of vodka I've had for 15 years and it's still fine.

Quite a few places do have vanilla vodka, but if they don't, Galliano is quite similar. I've had it in coke and it works. I had a cherry vodka and coke last night, which was amazing!

Even though it's probably an old lady drink, I love Martini Rosso (with lemonade or just ice).

We went to Antwerp last year and got cocktails after a meal, but couldn't remember the name of the restaurant. After much searching, I found out it was Brasserie Appelmans. If anyone is going to Antwerp we can thoroughly recommend them. I had the Remy Round-up, which contains cognac Remy Martin Grand Cru, Khalua and Amaretto shaken with espresso and topped with cinnamon. Mmmm. Their food was great too and friendly service.
Just be nice to me.

All this talk of vodka and I want to drink it again now. Cherry vodka, yummy! Tastes like nice medicine. And vanilla vodka is good too.

The other night I tried Krupnik honey vodka. It was ok, a bit sweet though.
Another I tried that I liked was Goldwasser, flavoured vodka with bits of gold in it. Really though, I like a good plain vodka just straight.

Crystalball, how do you do your vodka with lemon juice? Just squeeze it in? I need to try that this weekend!

Just squeeze a lemon just as you would an orange and mix the juice in with the vodka (you might want to add a little bit of sugar so that your mind isn't blown by the acidity). Sometimes I buy fresh lemon juice from Sainsburys though, that's lovely too.

I could do with something to drink now.

So the honey vodka was good? I brought some back from my trip abroad a few weeks ago but not tried it yet. I'll have to get some different ones next time. I have cranberry, honey, bison grass and cherry so far. Then again I don't really touch spirits.
