I'm going to go ahead and admit that I'm still not exactly clear on what a kebab is.

The most common form of Kebab is a Doner Kebab....this end, it's almost always lamb, although many places do a chicken doner as well...

It comes in pitta bread, and a choice of sauces (usually chilli sauce, garlic sauce & mint sauce), and a choice of salad (onion, coleslaw, chilli peppers etc).

I can only speak about how it's done in Wales....further info here...

I had chips & cheese for my dinner on Sunday while completely sober. I had had a good Sunday roast earlier in the day though, so there's no need to send Jamie Oliver even further up North to teach me how to cook just yet.

I imagine Taco Bell is the American sozzled food of choice. The restaurant even started marketing its food as Fourth Meal.

Hahahaha....the Doner Kebab is after the pub food, but, not all kebabs are....
I tend to like a shish-kofta on occasion...
THis page shows the various different kinds of kebab... http://thechillisource.net/html/mainmenu.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (click on 'types')

I had a kebab the other day that's not on that list. Can't remember what it's called, but it was a boiled egg encased in lamb (a bit like you would construct a scotch egg) wrapped in an omlette.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

It was at the Omar Khayam in Northfield, also notable because they sell Bombay Duck.

Ooh, the lesser-spotted Nargis kebab. Now I've remembered what they're called I can start looking for one again.

The spicy scotch egg thing looks fabulous :)

You can see from the site with the various types of Doner Kebab why it has the nickname "Elephant's foot".

On the Bombay Duck thing. I thought it had been banned years ago. I did try some at the Noor Jehan (bottom of Mansfield Rd, Nottingham) about ten years ago and can truthfully say it was vile. Imagine boiling a vat of water filled with tramps socks. Remove the socks and then let the water evaporate. I would imagine the stuff at the bottom of the vat would be something like Bombay Duck.

good lord. that looks like my worst eggy nightmare.

pakora (i can't get the wikipedia link to work, so you'll have to look it up yourself) was my drunken snack of choice for a while, but it makes my mouth taste a bit greasy and rank the following morning.

The Rajasthan (my all time favourite curry house, sadly now closed down :) ) did a wonderful pakora gohst (and also chicken & veggie versions). It wasn't greasy at all...in fact quite dry....it came with mint sauce, slices of lemon & orange, and green salad :)
