I really want Lisa Dobriskey to win so I can see what her reaction would be. Bless her.

I must admit that when the news first broke I was watching the coverage live, and I misheard and thought Hazel Irvine said "news just in that there appear to be some questions being asked about the gender of Casper Semanya" - as she was saying it it cut to a photo of her and (I hadn't seen the race or heard of her before) my immediate reaction was "what, they reckon that's not a bloke?". And then felt shame-faced when it cut to footage of the race. Whoops.

Anyway, you're right, it is sickening. I feel really sorry for her.

It must be hellish for her. It's got to be really confusing for anyone to get such a diagnosis from a doctor, never mind finding it out from the media at the same time as the rest of the world.

I really don't know what's going to happen to her competitive career now either. There's always going to be a section of the crowd and the other competitors who won't be happy with her winning anything.

Anyone see the 10,000m final at the European Championships last night? Storming race!

Yeah, it was great. I loved it when Farah invited the Spanish guy past him, and when he kicked back past him on the final lap it absolutely shattered him. It was a masterclass. Also, when the camera had been focused on Farah I was thinking the Thompson was up for a bronze maximum, so when it cut back to him having edged ahead for silver going into the home straight, I literally stood up and went "GO ON!"

john inverdale just asked colin jackson: 'colin, did your blocks ever slip?'

I know colin jackson may have a high voice but I don't think it's ever been in doubt that he did go through puberty, I don't think that's in question

shame on you, john inverdale

Anyone else getting fed up of the casual racism surrounding the Commonwealth Games?

"ooh, Delhi belly". Fuck off, morons.

I just heard that there were condoms blocking the athletes' toilets. And everyone's moaning. Who put the nodders there in the first place?

Interesting decision to take across the BBC team but edit it so badly that you dont know who is in most races and add a presenter who doesnt know the name of the events.

Oscar Pistorius would have been particularly surprised if he'd have been in the 400m hurdles this morning as the presenter seemed to think.

Christ, that 100m final was a right wet lettuce in the end, wasn't it?

Yeah, the editing is awful. Show seven seconds of a random race, then someone in the long jump, then back to the studio. Thanks.

Yeah, it was already not that exciting without Tyson Gay in it. I'm hoping the live coverage is better because, like has been said, the highlights show is pretty awful. Bring back Sue, Colin, Brendan, Steve and Phil!

The live stuff is marginally better because it doesn't have those two idiotic T4 presenters on it. It's still crap, though. The advert breaks ruin it as much as anything else.

Having said all this, the shots of Mo Farah and the Ethiopian bloke as they came down the home straight were great. Ace race, that.

Yeah, I only saw the 2 minute highlights version I'm afraid. It was a great race though. Hopefully he competes in and wins the 5000m now.
I'm off work for the next 3 days now so I'll see what the live stuff is like. I'm presuming they do actually occassionally give you a start list and other such seemingly unimportant things.

The live coverage is a huge improvement then thankfully though I have no idea who thought Ortis was a good choice as presenter. Not that you see much of him anyway as any time between action is taken up by adverts. There was one point today where we had adverts, 2 1/2 minutes of chat, more adverts, 4 minutes of action followed by yet more adverts. Luckily the athletics itself is pretty good. Great recovery by Jessica Ennis after a dodgy (for her) start and the womens 400 which I think is the highlight so far. Watch it if you haven't already.

When islandhopper speaks, Channel 4 listen!

Channel 4 drops Ortis Deley as main athletics presenter

You're still really not doing things right when Rick Edwards taking over is an improvement though.
Not all of the complaints related to Deley, with viewers also unhappy that the coverage is interrupted by advertising having previously been on the commercial-free BBC, a fact the broadcaster is unable to do anything about.
This is no excuse for the frequency and timings of the adverts either. Other sporting live broadcasts manage to get the balance right. Channel 4 athletics really don't.
Please can nobody ever think of taking away the olympics from the BBC. It'll be horrible!
