Double top for a win

Post by Miss Anna » Fri Oct 12, 2007 23:51

It's the World Grand Prix of Darts and although I'm fairly sure most people don't care (including, to be fair, many darting professionals) I'm still up close to midnight watching everyone's favourite butcher lookalike Terry Jenkins make wrapping this match up look like hard work. He's going to win, surely, but he's teasing me.

I want him to win. I plan to make a little flag to wave whenever he's on tv.

I fucking love darts. And everyone always laughs at me when I say that.

Anyone watching the BDO on the BBC then?

Martin Adams just made it look easy against Phil Nixon... not quite the game it was hyped up as after the final last year.

Looking forward to hearing what Bobby has to say about it later

I'm watching.

Fucking Gary Anderson getting knocked out in round 1 AGAIN. Fuck's sake...

Bit of a stroll for the Wolf Man there, Nixon looks like a 1 tournament wonder. Early days yet, but Adams and Webster look like the 2 most likely to win it.

Pity there's no John Part in the booth this year, but at least they're acknowledging the other championship unlike in previous years.

Not just any darts player, but the PDC World Championship runner-up no less. He's a definite lookalikey, but you're more devilishly handsome.

perhaps it's not too much of a surprise given this quote post match
Gary Anderson, on the BBC wrote: I didn't practise for the tournament but then I never practise, I just turn up so perhaps I deserved to lose.
Adams looked good last night, that first leg he was on fire, i havent seen Webster yet.

Webster looked impressive despite missing doubles. If he can sort that out and continue his high scoring then he'll go a long way.

It's so annoying seeing Anderson lose again as he's such a good player and should be winning tournaments like this, but as you say maybe his, er, laissez faire attitude to practicing is holding him back. He shouldn't be losing in the 1st round as often as he does.

I was valiantly searching for a decent photo, but all the ones on the PDC site aren't great. I definitely saw the resemblance when watching him play though!

I have managed to miss the darts this year - well the PDC anyway as I saw a couple of hours of the BDO championships in between the footy yesterday. Now that's what I call a Sunday!

So Webster / Adams should be a good match tomorrow, Webster swept aside Daryl Fitton pretty easily, Wolfie had a tough (and close) quarter final. I think Webster till take it though.

Simon Whitlock vs Brian Woods.. Gotta go for Whitlock, Brian Woods makes me want to throw things at the tele, jumped up fuck. He'll probably win though then get beaten by Webster in the final..

Big news of the day though.. Trina Gulliver finally beaten at Lakeside, and by the lovely Anastasia Dobromyslova too. Trina looked like she was fighting to hold back the tears in the last leg..

In't Darts great?

The commentary is excellent too.

It was great, wasn't it? The young bloke had an impressive amount of sweat on his top lip.

Player at the BDO Championships yesterday with The Tragically Hip as his walk-on music. Probably a first.

Can't decide what I'd walk out to in the same (and utterly apocryphal) scenario. Anyone?
