Today is going to be worth it when Berbatov moves to whichever club pays the king's ransom and he starts to do a Shevchenko or a Veron on the field.

Wouldn't have happened when Clough was in charge etc etc for another 30 years.
What was all that at the weekend about the team being picked by drawing names out of a hat? It was Adam Pearson versus the Daily Mail so quite frankly I didn't know what to think.

This is funny:
"I have just seen Mark Viduka outside the Hull stadium. I doubt he is in Hull for a holiday."

There is no arguing with the second half of your point.
Has someone from this thread been freelancing for the Beeb?

A Viduka signing is probably a bullshit rumour.

Apparently they picked the captain by drawing a name out of a hat for the Preston game on Tuesday. I'd like to believe it's rubbish but you can almost believe it seeing as we've gone a whole year without a league win and need to put a win or two together desperately in any competition.

Imagine Viduka and Windass in the same team! You'd save a fortune on rolling the pitch.

You can just picture them turning up at the ground on the wrong day and then been put in the rugby team by accident.

What the hell's going on with Man City at the moment? They seem to be locked in a one-club battle to outdo themselves in terms of craziness.

Can you even buy a player if you're in the middle of a takeover? i thought it was a lengthy process...

Needless to say, I'll be livid if it goes through, unless we sign someone even better.

Absolutely no chance at all. I wouldn't be surprised if it was all a ruse by Spurs to force the MU Glazersox to cough up that last £5m.
How would that work? They're a Champions' League side; City aren't. I don't see Berbatov signing for City, unless his only motivation to leave Spurs is to get paid more. He doesn't know how City's season is going to pan out, so it would be a big gamble to go there expecting Champions' League footy next season. United, on the other hand, have been holding personal talks with him today (despite not having had an offer accepted yet, and despite the fact that Spurs are paying him to train today) and come 11:55 tonight it'll be a straight choice for Spurs - accept whatever United offer in order to get a player out who doesn't want to play or keep him on the club's payroll and hope that he stops sulking long enough to score a few goals. United could offer £20 million less than City, and they'd still be the only serious option. If anything, I reckon they'll offer even less than their original offer just to rub it in.

Do you think that Pavlyuchenko is going to be a good investment and alternative to Berbatov at the Hotspurs, Concrete?

Dunno, really. Berbatov has had some spectacular games, but often does nothing; I'd settle for someone not quite as spectacular but more consistent. It might be interesting if Arshavin makes it over as well; there are still rumours about that, even 5 hours before the deadline. With just Pavlyuchenko and Bent it doesn't look great.

There's a rumour on the BBC website that Heskey might be joining Spurs now.

what are the chances that levy will simply refuse to sell unless united meet the asking price? it's a rubbish plan from a financial point of view... but he seems to be seriously narked (rightly enough, blatant hypocracy aside) about the way united have gone about things. if united have talked to berbatov then it's clearly an illegal approach. spuds should leave berbatov to rot in the reserves and sue manyoo for whatever loss in value he suffers. everyone's a winner.

Forest might be getting the yank, Jonathan Spector, from West Ham. That'd be nice. We really need some more defenders.

That's been rumoured for a week or so. I'm not sure what to think about that. If he costs next to nothing he might be worth it; he'd have a role as a sub from time to time at the very least.

Hee! Nice to have a Gull here too. How is Wayne Carlisle getting on?

Look, that's how football rivalry should be. Just because we are in the Football League and Torquay isn't, just because we turned around a 3-1 disadvantage in the play-off semi-finals, just because they buy all our players who then fail, it doesn't mean we should hate them.
