Inniesta, Spain, belated World Cup thread

Post by slow motion » Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:38 pm

Ok, It's not indie pop, I don't think so, so it's here in not indiepop. I know he (Inniesta) looks like his favourite label is Sarah and his favourite band is the Magnetic Fields, but what a footballer. I love that he looks so wan and I love the way Spain play. He's the key. Actually, I love the way Ozil (Oezil) looks and plays too (I'd maybe rather look like Ozil than Inniesta), but in the end I've loved Spain the most. I love that the French debacle was wilder and more crazy and more French than the English one which wasn't even a proper debacle, and I've loved the South African World Cup. I love Mandela. I love Spanish football. I love this kind of football.

Andrés Iniesta: Eddie Munster called, says he wants his haircut back.

Also, there's a football thread here http://www.anorakforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... start=6540 for all the world cup discussion. Cheers!

Right before the World Cup they interviewed the Spanish players and with Xabi Alonso (*swoons*) they asked him "do you know what indie is?" "and emo?". Those are strange questions for a footballer. Both answers were "no".

I think Gaika Mendieta, from the previous Spansish national side was more sympathetic to 'indie' music, and was even rumoured to have attended concerts by Teenage Fanclub and Camera Obscura. I'm not saying Inniesta is plastic (far from it) but I think his look is more accidental than intentional. Maybe he's the Spanish Pat Nevin but I don't think so.

Sid Lowe was on the radio the other day saying Iniesta is a "total geek, in the nicest possible way". Don't know if that means he's the Spanish Pat Nevin or not.

The band Los Planetas mentioned him in a song, I think he was a fan.

Iniesta is SO nice.

I thought Fabregas looked pretty hot with his beard. Then he shaved it off, and lost all of his powers. Or won the world cup. I forget which.

I can definitely throw my full support behind a sexy footballers thread, although I don't really understand the appeal of Iniesta (forehead) or Ozil (bug-eyes). My girlfriend really likes Ozil, though. I prefer Thomas Muller, there's something weirdly charming about him.

Arteta is the all-time winner, of course.

Xabi Alonso and Casillas for me. You can keep the rest. Oh, and Piqué is not bad either. The Spanish team must have the most good-looking players, yeah. It's a shame I don't see guys like that on the street here :/
