The holiday weekend is here. Why not join Heavenly for some alcoholic refreshments from Brew Dog, Blue Moon, Sagres, Samuel Smith, Oranjeboom and many more. Go on, you know you want to titillate those taste buds. Heavenly also plays the very best in independent music e.g.

Northern Portrait
The Smiths
Helen Love
The Aislers Set
Tender Trap
Dolly Mixture
The Vaselines
Mudhoney
Spacemen 3
Sonic Youth
Juniper Moon
Heavenly
Talulah Gosh
X-Ray Spex

You’ll find it at 185 Hope Street, Glasgow.

I'm heading through for the Fence thing, probably not staying til the end so I can get a train home at a reasonable time. The fact that this means I'll miss Kid Canaveral is entirely coincidental...

I saw them for the first time last week, supporting the lovely Lovely Eggs.

Not quite sure if they're my cuppa yet! Am thinking that I should give them another chance or two - which is probably easy-ish to do whilst I am still in Auld Reekie.

Not sure about the Fence thing. Don't know many of the bands playing! Am a little curious though, so am pondering checking it out.

I think I'm the only person in Scotland who doesn't like them but there's enough there to keep me going for the evening. The KC/Pictish set has the potential to be very special indeed.

Anoraks, come to the lovely Laurieston Bar tonight. We have convinced the landlord to sell real ale for one night only and there's 72 pints of it that need supped.
As wrong as it was to do,

I could be talked into going to this if anyone else is.

Edit - I don't mean anyone other than Sootyzilla. An Anorak mini midweek meetup would be, er, marvellous though.

I could maybe be persuaded too. Still haven't decided quite how lazy I'm going to be tonight yet.

I think this should have been posted here. From Gary:
Bubblegum Records wrote:Heavenly - Glasgow's newest independent vegan cafe will hold it's official opening on
Thursday 21st July
(it's open now of course, if you want a wee nosey).

To celebrate we will be providing free samples of nibbles and drinks from 1.00 - 2.00 and 5.00 - 6.00..... AND.....

we have: The Hardy Boys, The Felt Tips, The Starlets and Maple Leaves all playing acoustic sets for free - just like one big party in your living room - except it's not.

Look out for our splendid food offer - coming soon......

Smiles,
G
If anyone ever hears about any fare sales (trains or planes) between Glasgow and London, could you post them in here? In the Glasgow Popfest thread, Emilie was saying if she'd booked at the right time last year, she could have gotten a return train ticket for £10 between the two cities. Surely that can't be right!?

I'm up next weekend (arriving late on June 16). Is anything on?
There's more than one use for every part

Thanks, Jennifer. I often get confuddled about where's best to post such things.

Not sure if this is the place for it but here goes: Are there any indie types in Glasgow with a valid driving licence who maybe interested in driving Wake the President round England and France between the 1st and 10th July? Get in touch if you think you can help: wtpmanagement@hotmail.com

Best Wishes

Don't know of any good gigs but the West End Festival's going on at the moment so there'll be things going on at that most likely (http://www.westendfestival.co.uk/)

Are there any good gigs happening soon? Girls Names are playing The Captain's Rest on 26th June but that's all I've got for the rest of the month. July's looking pretty good though with the Heavenly opening gig and our night with Math and Physics Club.

Yip, don't think I have anything planned until the Heavenly opening and obviously the following Monday. Songkick's not throwing anything up either but then it also keeps insisting I track George Formby despite him always strangely enough having "0 upcoming gigs".
