Excellent news about Martha. Let us know as soon as you hear anything else.
Will try and get to unpop again and hopefully the 2nd All The Rage in May too.

Hey Glasgow - don't say I'm not good to you. I will be putting on 3 popshows for you in July at The Glad Cafe (http://www.thegladcafe.co.uk/) on Pollokshaws Road. It's a great wee place where I've recently seen brilliant performances from Kid Canaveral and Withered Hand so I'm very excited to be offering you up the following gigs there.

20th July - Yakuri Cable + Arts & Leisure + more TBC

23rd July (Indietracks warm-up show) - Tunabunny + more TBC

30th July (post Indietracks show) - The Ballet + more TBC

Obviously there's a few "more TBC"s there so it can only get better. Will probably do individual threads for these with a few more details.

Have just made a separate event post for that Ballet gig which now amazingly also includes The Felt Tips & Making Marks!

Still working on the other 2, but you can follow our efforts at http://www.facebook.com/Popsouth & https://twitter.com/PopSouth .

Don't think much of it as a music venue, but looking forward to seeing Martha at Bloc next Wednesday.

Was also in Broadcast for the first time on Saturday to see Spook School and it is suitably Captain's Rest-ish! Since you all missed that opportunity to see them in Glasgow, why not see them supporting Tunabunny at The Glad cafe on 23rd July?!

The Scene Inbetween book has its Scottish launch at Monorail tomorrow night at 7pm.

I think that the author will be discussing the book.

The Pastels will be DJing - and I think that the Vaselines will be playing a few songs too.

Plus other guests, I think.

Apparently Duglas from BMX Bandits will also be playing a few songs at the Book Launch tonight.

Given that most of the folk likely to attend this were also at the Tenniscoats gig in Mono last night, I suspect that there will be a strong element of deja vu this evening.

Having said that, I wonder if there might be a few surprises in terms of folk attending?

There will probably be more Glasgow bands than you could shake a stick at, I would think.

The book launch was fun!

Sam Knee's book does look great - well worth picking up a copy.

The discussion about the book (Sam Knee - compered by Stephen Pastel) was enjoyable.

Short BMX bandits set - 3 songs, incl oldies 'The Day Before Tomorrow' and 'Girl at the Bus Stop'.

Vaselines set was longer - about 8 old songs and 3 newer ones. Plus some entertaining banter from Frances and Eugene, as ever.

Plenty of folk from the Scottish Music scene there too.

Very enjoyable C86 DJing as well.

And all for free.

Most likely, V seems to prefer 2 bed flat in vibrant city to 3 bed little house in somewhere a bit gloomier...

We're just canvassing now. She's got a bunch of friends there, so lots of ideas coming in. One guy at work mentioned Bear's den?

Bearsden is pretty posh. A little bit out of the way and I wouldn't have thought you'd get so much for your money.
Southside is good. Lots of lovely big flats at reasonable prices but also a good Humber of bars/cafes etc.
Don't know how you were planning to get to work but you'd also be able to get a direct train to E Kilbride without going through the city centre.

Do any Glasgow folks or those who've visited lately have any recommendations of somewhere nice to stay for a night? Planning a day out next month and stopping over on a Friday night. We've got dead cheap train tickets but haven't booked anywhere to stay yet. I've only been once before and stayed in the Euro Hostel which was fine but we're after somewhere a wee bit nicer this time. Thinking West End / Kelvingrove Park type area but ready to be put right by anyone else's recommendations. As long as we make it to here and here we'll be a happy couple. Thanks!

Ok, Glasgow! We'll actually be able to afford to come out and do things next month!
