Thanks, Sam. I'll try to remember to mention it to my mum. Doubt I will though...

James died this afternoon. There was no brain activity so his parents decided to switch the machines off. Everyone's a bit fucked up over it.
Give over.

Nottingham indiepop cafe alert: just been in that place that used to Ranby's on High Pavement, but is now a poncey deli. They had The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian on. I couldn't concentrate.

Daniel Kitson and John Shuttleworth are both doing dates at The Playhouse in November. Anyone fancy either of them? Darren Hayman at The Bodega too.

DHP are using The Playhouse now, I see. They'll have taken over my back yard soon at this rate.

I'm very interested in seeing both Kitson and Shuttleworth shows... less keen on seeing Darren Hayman if by 'less keen' I mean 'I don't want to see him at all'

Amazing! The last time I saw Darren in Nottingham was my favourite gig ever. I shall now commence looking forward to that.

Additional question: What's the Jam Café like? It looks like I'm playing there on October 25th with Mexican Kids at Home, as part of this Hockley Hustle thing.

It's very Hockley, if you know what I mean.

Not really! But sort of. I'm sure it will be fun though, I'll do a proper post about it when I know who else is on and stuff.

I thought the Jam Cafe weren't interested in anything that might resemble indiepop or indeed indie? Oh wait, that was 3 months ago...

It's the people who do the Hello Thor label (?) that are organising it.

Yep, just me for this one. The new band that I may or may not have secretly joined aren't ready to be unveiled just yet. Or are they? No, they are not.

You sure? I know they're using The Arts Theatre on George Street for a Neko Case gig in September. Someone will have to go piss all over the pipes that dispense their drinks to give it an authentic DHP flavour.

The Jam Cafe is alright. They only sell expensive bottled booze though, that's generally a sticking point with me. Jazz cunts.

Oh, and here's the Daniel Kitson thing.

I can't remember where Shuttleworth is playing, but I don't think it's the Playhouse.

As we're on the theme of upcoming gigs, David Thomas Broughton is playing the Maze again, on 28th Sept.
