I'm having car trouble, so I won't be along tonight after all.

And I'm going to skip all Halloween socialising.

Sod this stupid city.

san francisco indiepop ahoy! Did anyone else go to the Love Is All/Vivian Girls show last week? It was brilliant, and I met a girl there who runs another indiepop night here in town, very exciting. Apparently the first Monday in the month is "All Fall Down" at the Knockout. It sounds great - alas that I'll be out of town for the next one!
In any case, if you're looking to dance off some of that thanksgiving turkey we have another Your Latest Crush night this Friday at the House of Shields. Indiepop, electropop, tweepop and all that from 10pm-2am. We're expecting it to be pretty quiet, what with the holidays, so come up and say hi!

Sarahluv: Dressy Bessy are playing at the rickshaw stop on the 9th, if you'd find that exciting. You might like the bardot-a-go-go night there on the 10th as well. I like it. Why do you have to come to town when I'm not there?

So we actually renamed our night to Anorak City. That was the name when we ran it in NYC, but we changed it to Feral Pop Frenzy for a while in LA. So we had been doing it basically at random, but now we will have it every first Saturday of the month (starting tonight). It's at the Mandrake Bar (http://www.mandrakebar.com/) in Culver City from 9pm-2am and we'll be playing all sorts of indie pop, some soul and girl groups too etc etc. So again, it'll generally be every first Saturday of the month.

Also, we actually made a my space page for the night:

Hope to see anyone that can make it!!!

So I arrived in LA last Monday and then left this Friday. This meant that I missed Hungry Beat by two days and your night by one day. What poor timing! I would have definitely liked to have been worked up into a feral pop frenzy. Best of luck with the night! :-)

Apologies for the cross-post (from the popfests section), but I figure CA people will be interested in this.
San Francisco popfest returns! It'll be over the memorial day weekend, the 21st - 24rd May. Nothing confirmed for sure yet, but we have some very exciting bands interested in playing. Plus, San Francisco! What more could you ask for?

Awesome, I'll be there for sure! Do you need any help with planning/organizing it? I'd be glad to help out, so let me know.

Indie pop night in Culver City? This I have not heard about. I'm westside and rarely make it out to Hungry Beat. Are you guys on for Feb?

Wow, we are the night for you then !!! We are on for Feb. (Feb. 7 to be exact) and we're already getting super excited for it 'cause it's like the first time we've ever really promoted it (proper my space and everything etc). *We* always have fun, hopefully the bar patrons will too this time.

Excellent! Will stop by with my Westside people. And I won't even have to drive 45 minutes! That in itself is very exciting. Can't wait.

supercool :) at present we're still confirming bands and venues but nearer the time I think we'll be needing all hands on deck. I'll certainly let you know!
In other San Francisco news, there's another Your Latest Crush this Friday night! We have an excellent guest dj this time round: Phil from Palo Alto Pop Overthrow! It's going to be brilliant. Plus, I'll be massively jetlagged so if you ask me nicely I'll tell all the unconfirmed popfest gossip :)

Hungry Beat is so much fun. I can't wait to go this Saturday. I've never been to Anorak City. I want to check it out though.

Yeah, it's insane. They play the best music and it goes late / everyone dances. Good all around. We'll be there, you should say hi, we'll be passing out Anorak City flyers of course.
