Yey Johnny for you now living in Sweden! (this is Sarah-miffy under my new username!)

I'm hugely jealous. I'm going to be in Stockholm again in a fortnight, thoroughly looking forward to taking my friend to Djurgården and going to Skansen and Rosendals. Being there last year was the happiest I think I've ever been, ever :D

I have seen about five English people try snus for the first time over the years and vomit very soon thereafter.

To be fair, I think they were all drunk at the time.

I have now seen plenty of English people have snus without throwing up.

I didn't see any of their first times though. Now I have a Pulp song in my head.

After many years of talking about it, I am wondering about finally visiting THE SWEDEN. Do any of you have tips for flying from the UK please, or when might be a good time to go? (Any pop stuff happening maybe?) There seem to be some flights in the spring from Manchester to Stockholm for about £150 return, which seems decent.

I obviously have no idea why Joanny went to Gothenburg but my guess is because it's the best place ever. I think about it all the time. I'd move there tomorrow.

Really? It seems alright, but I've only been for work... maybe I should try a proper visit there.

If anything I think you should move to Stockholm. Lovely Stockholm.

I was visiting friends, and I also had the chance to see Malmö and Copenhagen.

I actually didn't enjoy Gothenburg that much, apart from some really cool bars. The weather was awful to say the least (I know, what kind of stupid people would decide to visit on early April?) and some people quite rude. Not too fond of the city's architecture either. I liked Lund and Malmö more. The atmosphere looked more relaxed and I enjoyed the seaside landscape. Thanks to my super-guide friend Amanda I also visited Christiania while in Copenhagen, very interesting place.

It might have been the very first time I visited a country where I couldn't speak or read anything in the local language, which makes me feel quite uncomfortable because I couldn't understand announcements in the public transports, or read any sign. Strange feeling. But I learnt how to order beers in Swedish, which is very helpful.

Sounds like a good visit in general though.

Visiting other countries where my skills with the language are limited is quite normal for me. Sweden is one of the few places where I can get by in the local language. I guess it shows that the by-rote verb-table type of language teaching that was forced on me at school didn't work for me, whereas Swedish I have learnt organically, without lessons, and that works fine.
