Hi there! Good to see you're coming, any reason in particular? I can't give you much advice but I'm sure someone will. It's a shame you couldn't make it for the Madrid popfest. Weather should be nice but...quién sabe?

I ate at Yerbabuena a couple of times. Also if you go to Tirso De Molina there's a cool rooftop bar but I can't really explain how you get to it.... wait, I think this is it, Casa de Granada, apparently.

Anyone got any idea how accurate this Barcelona indiepop Travel guide is? I think it's from about 5/6 years ago.

I don't think anyone on here lives in Murcia, but I hope everyone is okay and safe.

we're thinking of seville or maybe granada or almeria for a holiday this year. we'd ideally like some beach/sea action, but there is a really lovely hotel in seville so we're thinking maybe we can just do a daytrip to the beach when we feel the need.

i guess the main thing we want is somewhere pretty/quaint and not super hectic.

we went to alicante last time (after recommendations from this thread) and that was amazing!

It's absolutely nowhere near Seville at all ( <3 Seville!), but I'm reckoning I'm gonn ahave to go check out Islas Cies before too long. I read in a zine about some people who went there and a bunch of places in Gallicia and it all sounded great.

Is that relevant? That's not relevant. Thing about Seville is it's murderously hot in the day time, though I suppose you know that much already.

I have nothing to say (though it's rare that I don't say it).

I really liked Seville. It's a good mix of stuff to do/see but not overly hectic. I went in April (I think) and it was hot without being overbearing.

Granada is supposed to be hella beautiful and I'm glad I'll be able to judge myself for the trip we've booked to Spain for early September! We'll be doing:

* Granada for a few days (awesome city time)
* Alhama, Almeria (at home with the family time)
* San Jose, Almeria (beach time!)

And I get to take advantage of one of those rare direct London --> Almeria flights on EasyJet. Awesome.

I was also reading on the EasyJet flight magazine the other week that a massive Iceland has just opened up somewhere in Almeria catering to Brits. o_O Though I was thinking some things from there might come in handy when we need to cook vegeterian food at home. From a cursory thought, I'm imagining a lot of vegetable paella and we'll throw some beans in for protein.

I've been told you really can't go wrong with the beaches of Almeria for gorgeous beach and Mediterranean action (this coming from a native Almerian!). So I really trust San Jose will be beautiful. I've also seen photos of Roquetas de Mar, nearby, which also looks fab.

Seville is bloody beautiful. It has old stuff, trams, bicycles, a river, flamenco, and erm, yea.

I would totally recommend Seville, though I was there in February so I avoided DETHSUN, it's just something I've heard about (in that muggers operate around midday cos only tourists are stupid enough to be out in the blazing sun)

Islas Cies is gonna be next year for me, or perhaps (very) late summer this year if I pull my socks up.

I know I can't compete with the Med and I know that the average holidaymaker would never come here when there's Mallorca or Torremolinos to choose from, but not only the natural reserve of Islas Cíes is stunning, Galicia is an amazing place to visit. I thought I'd mention it even it's just for patriotic pride :P

oh wow, thanks so much you guys, this is helpful!

nuria, i've never even heard of galicia, but i'm gonna investigate now. is there enough to do there for a week?

jennifer, when we went to alicante, all i ate was veggie paella! heh. but the bigger cities i've been to always have veggie places. d is so lovely because he always rules out spain since he knows it's hard for me to get food there, but he hasn't had a holiday in over a year (like, not even a weekend!) so i think he deserves something nice and that's why i kinda want to stick to spain. andalucia looks really awesome and your trip sounds like it's gonna be great. (i gotta say though, the opening of a massive iceland in almeria is giving me images i don't want!)

I've been to spain 3 times since being vegan, I never had any trouble. True, most of that time's been spent in Mardrid and Barcelona.

I'm fairly sure that I went to that place with my family when I was about 11/12 and we spent most of our time in some sort of Red Lion pub fish & chips sort of place.

Oh yea, well cultured, we woz.

Edit
Yea, that's definitely the place.

Thanks for this link. We'll be in smaller cities/towns/villages after Granada so this will be very helpful when we're not eating at home.

I wonder how many 'British'-style pubs we'll come across? I tend to think I'll be steered clear of them though due to being with Spanish people!
