They haven't moved to St Kilda yet. Still expecting letters almost daily.

So I stayed up all night looking at Greenland on Google Street View and I think I've run out of heartbeats: https://www.google.com/maps/views/u/0/s ... highlights

Tidal islands kill me - even the temporary ones: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/super ... -1.3004230. And look at those people watching, with their lovely tide-loving faces. Aw.

What's everyone doing in 2033?

Kildophiles, what is this what's happening what:
This project will enable people to use the proxy of an avatar to walk around St Kilda as it was in the 19th century. The recreation will form part of an exciting museum exhibit and be accessible over the Internet.

What's that you say? Islanders who survived for generations by hunting puffins and things? Increasingly unsustainable lifestyle? Finally evacuated in the 1930s?

Yeah, that'll be Elliðaey. Still, at least there's still a tiny house there where you can go and stay.

The shape of that island. Good God.

Late sunset tonight. It might be time to start firing up those Shetland live webcams again.

I want to be part of this world:
A major drive to boost the population of Fair Isle, off Shetland, is being launched.

The population dropped to just 55 last year so a development plan has been prepared in an effort to swell numbers by about a fifth.
It is mostly owned by the National Trust for Scotland, which interviews anyone wanting to move there.
Research into a solution has been funded by Shetland Islands Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
'Securing Fair Isle's Future - A plan for Action' outlines how it is hoped to attract about 10 new people to the island in the next three to five years.
House-building, improving the ferry service and upgrading broadband will all be included.

Attempting to sell this plan to Mrs humblebee by extolling Fair Isle's location between Shetland and the Orkney Islands - "so it's very central"...

Been scouring the internet for pics to make this day more bearable. Someone posted this from St Kilda on Instagram a few weeks back. It's taken on Hirta; I'm guessing east of Glen Bay, looking out to Boreray. Or something.

I think it only fair to inform you that Shetland is getting its own 24/7 internet TV channel starting in January:
http://www.60north.tv/

In the meantime there's always the Victoria Pier webcam:
