i used to live a few miles north of Windermere (just outside Grasmere) and the place is HEAVING with tourists pretty much the whole time.

It's a little bit further borth but I quite like Keswick. there's an okay town with STUFF (arts centre, pubs) but it's basically in the middle of nowhere and there's Castlerigg just a mile up the road. So round there would probably be pretty good.

Mind, I can't recommend anywhere to saty so I'm basically rabbiting on about nowt.

I don't suppose anyone knows a nice place to stay around Whitby?

Self-catering, ideally.

There used to be a nice veggie place in Robin Hoods Bay. B&B though. I could ask my friends up there. Sure my friends mum knows somewhere.

How close to Whiby, Pete? More importantly when are you going?

Kerry's mum has a friend who has close ties with B&B's and folks in Whitby, so I can try and find out if they've got any ideas. I stayed in a lovely B&B in Whitby itself, but it wasn't self -catering and it wasn't cheap. It was ace though. That's not much help, sorry.

I'm thinking of going to Madrid & Segovia in March, but I probably can't afford it. Anyway, I only have about 6 days to do it in so I was thinking maybe I'd sack it off and go somewhere closer to home instead.

Any suggestions?
