London popfest 2011

Post by bartblueboy » Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:29

I realize this might be absurdly early, but I am already dreaming of the next popfest.
Are the dates for this set already ? As I will have to plan all of my days off almost a year in advance due to changes in my job situation, I would like to know the dates of the popfest way in advance ... there is no way work is going to keep me away from the highlight of my year !

It's all bickering and no organising so far.

But ... the dates will be end of Feb 24th - 27th.

I think we'll be ready to announce some bands very soon actually.

That's half term, so we'll almost definitely be away. Oh well...
From next week, my life will be ruled by higher powers (in this case, Lambeth council...) :)

But it does mean that bands with teachers in them will be able to play. Maybe you could organise an all-teacher line-up!

I've already warned my boss that I won't be available those days. I just couldn't bear missing out on the popfest as it has been so much fun the last two years.

I would love very much like to see the following bands being included in the line-up :

Youngfuck (come on Marianthi, you can' t remain the only one who has seen this awesome band live)
Papa Topo (they could be what Zipper was to the popfest 2009)
Le Futur Pompiste (we need some stylish Scando pop and these lot are just the ticket ... new album in november, by the way)
Champagne Riot (the guy from Northern Portraits poptastic side project : they could be 2011's Horse Shoes)
The Pains (headlining on the Saturday)
Wild Nothing
the Cavalcade (some soothing melancholy songs)
the Sunny Street (I know, I know, "again", cause they are awesome and their new album should make everybody realize how great they are !!!)

I must admit to finding Ian Horowitz's decision to play an impromptu encore on the Friday night quite funny, as was his constantly being lambasted on the Thursday for talking too loud.

Must be that..

Oh and Murray, seriously, Magic! Wicked! Awesome! - they're SO not Indiepop, they'd never play.
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

Hmmm... good point, Dave. In that case, Glum Radish and Jesus Swept. Hold on a mo...

I am now shouting demands rather than politely requesting.

JESUS SWEPT
