Cambridge Indiepop All-dayer! - Nov 12th

Post by carney » Tue Aug 23, 2016 17:08

Since the launch party in February, Sweet Revenge!!! has been quietly building a reputation for its friendly, fun and inclusive atmosphere and a playlist that mixes old and new DIY & indiepop with indie disco floor fillers. We’re excited to announce our first festival - the Cambridge Indiepop All-dayer!

We're bringing some of our favourite DIY and indiepop bands to the Blue Moon on Saturday 12 November 2016. We’ve now announced eight bands and have one awesome headliner to go. We’ll be announcing the headliner in early September so please take this as your advance warning to get a ticket before it sells out!

The self-titled debut from Fortuna Pop favourites Chorusgirl (http://www.chorusgirl.co.uk/) is crammed full of dreamy, guitar-driven pop songs reminiscent of The Cure and 80s and 90s 4AD legends like Lush and The Breeders. If you were lucky enough to catch their wonderful set when they were in town last year, you’ll know why we’re so excited to be bringing them back to the Blue Moon!

Two White Cranes (https://twowhitecranes.bandcamp.com/) is Roxy Brennan who you might have seen singing and playing things as part of Joanna Gruesome, Grubs, Towel and formerly of Trust Fund. As Two White Cranes, Roxy makes beautifully stripped down folk-tinged indiepop with a noisy edge.

Deerful (https://deerful.bandcamp.com/) is the electro pop solo project from multi-instrumentalist Emma Winston. Her recent EPs are filled with perfect pop songs that combine compelling storytelling with synth sounds and electronic beats. Her first album will be released in 2017.

Suggested Friends (https://www.facebook.com/suggestedfriends) are a jangly punkish pop band playing catchy songs about regret and micro-aggressions, featuring members of Wolf Girl and Actual Crimes. Melodic hooks, big choruses, and all the awkward banter you could want.

¡Ay Carmela! (https://www.facebook.com/aycarmelaband)
are a three-piece DIY band from West London who make jagged 90s-inspired indie punk with gorgeous, catchy vocals. Their debut album, Working Weeks, is out at the end of July.

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, Mammoth Penguins (https://www.facebook.com/MammothPenguins) are Cambridge’s finest Indiepop three-piece! Emma, Mark and Tom have played in a million bands over the past 15 years, including Standard Fare, Pony Collaboration, Violet Woods and Puncture Repair Kit. They’ve built up a great live reputation, had a load of airplay on 6 Music and their debut album Hide and Seek was one of our favourite records of 2015!

Local heroes Baby Seals (https://www.facebook.com/thebabyseals/) have been building up a following in Cambridge over the last year with their noisy live shows and empowering, feminist pop punk songs. We love them!

Melge (https://melge.bandcamp.com/) write cerebral belters for wine nights and Wine Knights. Lovely pointy-punk synth tunes from Cambridge and London.

As we’ll be entertaining you all day, we’ll also be providing some tasty food options! The Blue Moon will be serving its amazing astronaut-themed pizzas all day and the award-winning Wandering Yak will also be setting up outside at tea-time. The Wandering Yak is a Cambridge streetfood truck specialising in meat-free Middle Eastern influenced food. A recent winner of the Cambridge Streetfood award 2016, The Yak will delight with variety, amazing flavours and lots of choice, especially in their Mezze boxes.

Doors will open around 1.30 pm with bands starting soon after. After the bands finish, we'll be having a Sweet Revenge!!! indie disco until late. Dancing is included in the ticket price!

Advance tickets are available for £12 at We Got Tickets. If we have any tickets left on the day, they’ll be available on the door for £15.
