Here is a thread for all those people who make music and want to put them up for other Anoraks to listen to.

Ya. That's pretty much it!

For a second there I thought you'd put up one of your songs and rushed to this thread to download it, alas, now I'll have to record something of my own and expect critique.

Hah! I have gone stingy in ol' days and don't let people download my songs, they have to pay for the EPs instead...

But I AM making a free download-only Christmas EP at the moment!

So yeah, after the spectacular success of the last song, with everyone downloading it, having a listen and all the useful feedback. Six Song Set have recorded another track. This one's a cover of Magnetic Fields's 100,000 Fireflies

Download it here

Let me know what you think.

And of course if any promoters need a cheap professional support act, then look no further than Six Song Set.

I have the feedback! Even though the chords are different, the melody for the verse and chorus is almost exactly the same. Needs to be mixed up a bit more, I reckon. It's not a bad melody, I just prefer it when songs go from catchy to SUPERCATCHY. Like, instead of catchy to catchy.

Yup. That probably wasn't any help at all.
This is bad comedy.

because - and i'm not trying to be a dick here (it just comes naturally) - the music isnt interesting enough to figure that prominently in the mix so the singing/lyrics should make up for it

I'm uploading one new song of mine every week, so I can either post links here on a regular basis or you can hop along to http://weathersensitive.wordpress.com, listen to the songs I've already posted, and subscribe to my blog in a reader or via email.

I just posted a song today. Here's a direct link: http://www.themp3host.com/uploads/3d78ccccca.mp3. Hope you feel enticed enough to subscribe to my biweekly ramblings.

Cheers,

Nice! I particularly like that cymbal at the end--it made me chuckle for some reason.

One of my lyrics

Post by tweepixie » Sat Mar 29, 2008 12:31 am

"The Pinup"

Oh you treat me in such mysterious ways
Oh I´ve been waiting outside the classroom
For a smile on your face

I´ve been waiting so long
I´ve put all my so in this song
And all the words I say
And all the times I pray
It is

You switched me for a suicide girl
I gave you all the love in this world
And you switched me for a suicide girl

How long will I be waiting for this?
When will I fell this bliss?
How long will I be waiting for your kiss?

But

You swiched me for a suicide girl
I gave you all the love in this world
I've been walking outside in the snow
And you swiched me for a suicide girl

I just put up a new song in my blog, as I do every Monday. Check it out at http://weathersensitive.wordpress.com. If you're a Portuguese speaker, you can also read the latest post at http://weathersensitivebr.wordpress.com, which is actually a different post, not just the English language one in translation.

That's lovely, David. The chorus in particular. You do a good Oldham!

funny you should mention because when he did that second version of it himself that was on some single last year or maybe the year before, i was a little disappointed. he changed the phrasing and stuff and the palace version, as you sing it so well, is one of my all time favorite songs.

That's really lovely, David! Genuine and heartfelt and I esp. like your singing in the uplifting chorus at the end.

At least people are listening to your songs. Keep posting, I'm enjoying them.
