Anorak IndiePOP Covers 2014 - submissions open!

Post by knibbles » Fri Oct 24, 2014 19:39

Hello everyone!

We're doing an anorak Indiepop Covers compilation, with any profits going to the lovely Midland Railway, without which Indietracks would not happen.

You can submit whatever cover you like, doesn't have to be indiepop, don't let that put you off.

I'm hoping to have all submissions by 1st December so we can get it released before Christmas, but if you'd like to do something and that timescale is unrealistic let me know and we can probably extend it a bit. The more people we can get involved the better.

Please feel free to PM me or pledge a song publicly here.

If you're not in a band or haven't made any music before, but would secretly like to, I'd encourage you to submit something, doesn't matter how shambolic it is. Don't be shy! It's a nice opportunity to do something that you've never done before! You never know, it might inspire you to make more music which would be awesome. Established bands very very welcome too!

If everyone can get it done by early December I'll make sure it is available for stocking fillers before Christmas.

If it works out we can make it an annual thing.

I will do something. This is me saying that I will do something. I have a thing in mind but I don't want to say yet in case I start recording it and realise it doesn't work, I hope that's OK!

I tried recording On The Seventh Day by The Fat Tulips for this when Andy first proposed it but it came out really rubbish and I got disheartened. I think I'll give it another go though. I just need to practise it a bit more I think, instead of just jumping straight in with the recording.

I'll try and record something in the next week or so. I'm thinking of doing a Softies cover now.

I've started doing something for this. I'm not saying it'll be any good, but it'll BE. Whoop!

Can we have a 'deadline approaching' nudge as the deadline approaches please? I'm rubbish at finishing things.

Ace! So glad you're both happy to do something for it, that's ace!

You've got 5 weeks. Do you want me to nudge you when there's two to go? I don't know where to nudge.

EVERYONE GET ON WITH IT, I'M LOOKING AT YOU, NEVER RECORDED STUFF BEFORE PEOPLE, TOO.

Actually moved from nudging to bullying now.

I'd like to put forward a song for this please. I've a possible cover in mind and received a new microphone for my birthday, so it's all looking hopeful so far.

Thanks for putting this together, it's a really good idea!

I have a £20 microphone from Maplin, but I think we're going to do something too! Have made a start.

Wahey! Thank you so much, all of you lovely lot! Really looking forward to hearing what you've done! When you're ready, send me a PM and I'll let you know where to email your songs.

Closing date for submissions is likely to be extended, so don't let the timescale put you off doing anything.

Hello! I don't suppose you're still looking for submissions? I had an idea last month I was very excited about - a 90s pop touchstone that I wanted to try to make even poppier - but we moved, my home studio got packed up, and I've just now had time to get it unpacked... :) thanks!
