And why does everything I write sound like it could be a Tim Burton soundtrack?
That's a really really lovely piece. It could almost be A Hawk & A Hacksaw at the start!

The gloombuttons are lagging a million miles behind, but I've recorded one of the new songs that I wrote for this and miss squirrelboutique is adding her magic to it. One song! I like it though. It's called New Hampshire (It's What's New) after a line in the West Wing.

Think of it this way - you have one song you like, when you could have ten songs you're not sure about. I'd say that's a success.

I've just been adding bits and writing melodies (on Nuendo....on my own!!) so we're getting nearer to completion. I still have two songs to write lyrics for. Crap.

I've booked tomorrow and friday off work, just to work on my FAWM songs. This has become some kind of dangerous obsession!

Here's my collaboration with Mr. Hibbett (his lyrics, my music)

It's song number FOUR THOUSAND - cool!

It sure is pretty. Is that a baby guitar coming in about half-way through?

There should be more of this sort of thing, people writing songs for other people.

Thanks! Yep, it wouldn't be quite right without a bit of ukelele.

I have another collaboration in the works that I think will be somewhat different... then just another four or five songs to write. I'm starting to think I might actually manage it...

I agree, but is yours pink?

I wish that wasn't so big.

We just bought one of those mic things but the mic itself doesn't work and I said we could just use a pair of tights to stop skrshn.

Small - Ukeleles are SMALL ;)

Sadly mine is generic brown:

Thank you; that is a good way to think about it.

I have no ukelele stories, just a borrowed mandolin that I can't really play.

I have magic to add?

This being magical is very exciting for me.

Recently I have been listening to this song far too much. Several times a day in fact.

Is it stopping you from doing the things that you had planned?

I had lots of things planned last night but I fell asleep on my sofa at 8 and woke up at at 6 and my cat was outside and is now traumatised but I just couldn't open my eyes and now my back feels carbonised.

Hooray! Cheers.

I posted a song about squirrels yesterday that brings me up to a total of 10, so I have tonight and all of tomorrow to write four more songs...

Hmmm, challenging.

Well, I'm off work again tomorrow, all our lyrics are written (well, I'm going to change some of mine, but they're 98% finalised or something), all our backing tracks are down unless I decide to do some last-minute drumming... So there's vocals to record and some bits of mixing here and there before we commit it all to CD. But it's starting to feel as though we've done it. And I'm actually fairly happy with the results, which is unusual for me.

Two more songs done, two to go. I've noticed that FAWM base their countdown on the international date line so I have til midday tomorrow to finish - which is a help - but I'm going to try to get to 14 tonight so I'm not panicking tomorrow.

Today's songs thus far:

The Secret of My Success
A Sign of Weekness

(edit at midnight:)

...aaand A Walk in the Park

Looks like I will be trying to do my final song tomorrow morning after all! Argh!

I wrote most of the lyrics for my final song in bed last night, so it turned out to be easier than expected!

It's rather appropriately called Last Minute.

Having WINNER! appear on my profile page is oddly satisfying.

Our RPM album is in the post now. It was a mammoth task in the end doing the final bits of recording, and I wish we'd had a bit more time to do more takes and mix the tracks properly, but I'm fairly pleased with it. There are 3 songs up on the RPM site now, and we'll probably do a Myspace later this month or something (once we've had a bit of a break).
