young explorer

<self promotion>

me and my gf do a zine together called young explorer (after the middle ones song, innit). we are on our third issue now and with each issue we find that we're making less daft mistakes, which is nice. each issue has a theme of sorts that everything inside that issue kind of loosely relates to.

issue one's theme was 'home and away' (not the soap, sadly) and had stuff in it, like:
- pete green talking about growing up in grimsby
- some nice illustrations
- a quick word with grace from the middle ones about being in a band with someone who lives miles and miles away
- a brief but enthusiastic bit of text about sparky deathcap
- a terrible comic section that i drew that i have since distanced myself from

this issue has SOLD OUT but we are going to put a pdf version of it on our blog some time soon.

issue two's theme is 'collecting' and included things, such as:
- an interview with phil elverum from mount eerie/microphones about his collection of books, in which he uses a swear word (!)
- haiku salut talking about sausage gloves
- a poignant (not really that poignant) thing i wrote about my grandad's record collection
- nice illustrations

issue three's theme is 'food!', and contains these principle ingredients (and more):
- laura from internet forever talking about eating on tour
- a dead nice recipe for a pasta dish by a nice italian food blog person
- nice illustrations
- some ice cream chat
- a guest comic by stef bradley who does today zine, which is flipping great

all issues are 16 pages long and are printed on nice paper, although issue four (spoiler!) will be 32 pages long. the second and third issues are still available, for £2, from etsy and our internet shop and irl from us if you see us out and about anywhere.

bye!

hey!

there's a new bumper 32 page issue of young explorer out now that has a vague theme of 'the past'. includes stuff like:

- an interview with julian koster from the music tapes and neutral milk hotel
- jof from the boy least likely to tells us about his favourite historical person
- a comic from stef bradley of today zine super fame
- hayley flynn from, the ace blog skyliner, talking to us about her fave manchester building
- and loads of other bits and pieces that me and liz have written or illustrated and what have you.

many thanks for reading!
