help me anoraks. i was watching hgtv yesterday and it was an episode of something like 'what is my house worth' and this girl with a vaguely midwestern accent had renovated her apartment to sell it for more. and they mentioned that there had been tanneries. i have to know what city it was. i was drawn to it like a moron to a small run down industrial midwest city in hgtv. so does anyone know where the tanniers were in the olden days?

could it be any of these?

Tanniers (same as tanneries?) are always on rivers; does that help?

The only technically midwest choice in yer link there is Chicago and lord knows they have rivers!

i made up the word tannier. it's the dumbest looking word. i think i'm going to do some research on small tannery cities in the US.
