This is the stuff for putting in chocolate fountains? I have a feeling the internet stores are trying to rip me off rather, but I'm not sure where else one could purchase it. I worry about giving my friend her chocolate fountain (she will, hopefully, like this, being very fond of chocolate and keen on silly things like this) and saying "by the way, you have to pour OIL in it".

So - would supermarkets sell this? Do I need a deli? Ta.

Don't worry about the oil thing. What you can do is transfer some oil to a fancy bottle and say this is the magic runny making chocolate mix made of secret ingredients I can only retrieve for you through extreme duress. Honestly the oils wouldn't bother no bona fide lovers of chocolate and it means she can shoose her favourite chocolate to use and change types. Just DO it.

Oh and get her a bag of marshmallows and chinese lantern fruit to go with (the lantern fruit are the coolest things to put in a fountail). My pal got me a CHEESE fondue bag. Sigh. How can some one no me so little.
Sarcasm was the lowest form of wit. Now there's you.

Chinese lantern fruit? These sound marvellous, but I feel very uneducated as I've no idea what they are!

Thanks - I think she will like it anyway, she's choc-obsessed.

I walked passed a chocolate fountain stall the other night and thought I'd enquire as to any special chocolate stuff. The girl just confiremed the oil thing. Chinese lantern fruit can be got in any good asian fruit shop and you can get them in marks n spark n other places. They're great in they have a natural wrapping that you peel back and use to hold while dipping the fruit in. Taste a bit kinky.
