If you order stuff from the HDIF shop, does it usually take a while to come? Not got stuff from them before. Thanks.

Thanks Gordon. I did and he was very helpful, but I should have been more patient. Arrived today. Lovely stuff.

I sent that very amount tonight by pay pal. It's £31.29.

Costume shops? One in Canning Circus and one near the tap and tumbler.

There's that weird juggling shop in Nottingham as well, maybe they do it.

Is it possible as an aspiring European writer to publish your writings with an American publisher (assuming they would be interested) in America? Or would you need a green card/working permit for that? If so, does anyone know a way around it?

I'm asking for Sissi. We're trying to find a way for her to let go of her American green card, but still be able to publish in America. Any help would be appreciated!

Does anyone know much about text formatting?

What I want to know is the name of a text effect...basically the effect that the text bounces up and down, almost wave like.

The closest I could find was an old single cover...the words 'We are going to eat you' (the name of the band) are in something like the format I want...

It's hard to do a search when you don't actually know what the effect is called....

does anyone have e-journal access to a journal called 'hydrologic processes' from 1991? our university appears to have cancelled their subscription so now i can't log in and it doesn't appear that there is even a hard copy in the library.

We don't have it, but the article may be in another database. What's the title?

Hi Anorak

I wear glasses and then use daily contacts for when I play the sports. Does anyone know if it'd be alright for me to wear a pair of daily contacts on Monday for 2 hours of football, and then leave them in solution until Wednesday, when I play football again?

They won't wither and die, will they?
This is bad comedy.

Anorak, a few months ago I got a book for my birthday. It's a big one and one of those you'll probably never read. Now I'm moving back home and I'm struggling to fit everything in 20kg. I already had to sent two boxes and the book is quite heavy, so it's not exactly what I need right now. I don't have anybody to leave it with at the moment, is it okay if I donate it to the Oxfam books round the corner? Is that like being a re-gifter? Will this person get mad at me if they find out?

well they might, is it inscribed? is there any reason they'd find out?

if they do find out and do get mad they should stop and have a think because it's raising money for oxfam and somebody else- a stranger to boot- will get to cherish it

the alternative is you take it and leave other stuff (and presumably more items than one book) behind and then you've multiplied your 'worries' or you just bin it, which seems a lot worse

that it bothers you should be enough to placate the gift giver if they're cross (and find out somehow), it's not like you've thought 'ah, nevermind' and binned it, you're worried and you've arrived at- what to me seems like- the best solution out of the options open to you

Thanks for the answer. I don't think she'll find out and even if she did, knowing her, it'd probably be alright. It's not a special book or inscribed. I just think it wasn't a good idea to give me something so heavy/big knowing that I've tried to keep things to a minimum here, knowing that it's a pain having to move stuff from one place to another. I already managed to leave things last time I was home, etc but it's like clothes and things get bigger when you want to put them in a suitcase! And nowadays it's more difficult to check heavy luggage (let alone that I have to carry it myself and travel by bus/train/tube/whatever) so I *always* try to travel light. From the options you mention, Oxfam is the only making sense, because if I decide to leave clothes behind...it'd be like binning them and nobody would gain anything from that. At least this is a book people might want to read. However, I'll wait until everything's packed in case I have some space left...
