Why, what's wrong with them?

I've never tried the street view thing... am I missing out?

Point me towards your shameful bins.

It's terrifying and brilliant and addictive! You can just wander around neighbourhoods and pan the camera around 360 degrees. And I guess because the shots (or whatever) are taken in sequence you can see people walking along and doing things if you go in one direction.

There was a little knot of Ron Paul supporters waving placards on the pavement in Rachel's home town the day the pictures are from.
the trouble with personalities, they're too wrapped up in style
it's too personal; they're in love with their own guile

Wow... I had a look around a posh area before... it's a carjacker's dream... shopping to order.

Wait... where am I looking, relative to the artlink gallery?

Pan right!

That's right smack in the middle of downtown Lake Worth.

It looks lovely... very cosmopolitan. Apart from all those Ron Paul signs.

They did a great job didn't they.

I always think of Ron Jeremy. That's probably just me though.

I still can't find your bins... I'm worried I've gone blind.

So, is it on the same side of the road... but over to the right of the Artlink gallery?

Are there any other landmarks?

Oh! I live further east up that street and then south.

I'm scared to post my address on the international internets. What if someone tries to get me or flings poop at my house or something?

I can understand that... I found some bins, but they looked fine... You must be choosy with your bins.

The bins are okay, but they were overflowing with crap at the time the photo was taken.

There's also a really shoddy looking building on my street that's since been torn down after being condemned after a hurricane.

Those maps are amazing, I've just been looking at pictures of the street view cars, fantastic.

I'll have to keep an eye out for those, lest I be captured doing something silly when they are out and about.

I want a gadget that you can plug into your USB slot, right, which sends music wirelessly to a separate bit with red and white phono leads which you can plug into the aux input on your stereo. Then you can play music from your computer over your stereo, but wirelessly. With no wires. A bit like wireless headphones, except with speakers. And a computer. It must be possible to do that. Does such a gadget exist?
Did you ask this same question of the Guardian? Because they answered it the other week in "Stephen Fry's" gadget column in the weekend section. I meant to save it for you but forgot and it's probably been recycled by now...

And did you get anything in the end? I think I'd like to do something like that with me eee but I may just carry on using wires...

Yeah, I saw it in the Guardian! I've torn it out and saved it, cos before I buy whatever gadget I end up buying, I need to buy a little stereo to go in the sitting room to plug it into. And before I buy a little stereo to go in the sitting room, I need to put some shelves up so there's somewhere for it to go. And before I put some shelves up, I have to feel like putting some shelves up. And this is not a feeling I often experience. So it'll probably never happen!

Was anyone planning on getting the new iPhone? Gordon, I'm looking at you here. I've just managed to pre-order one through the Carphone Warehouse site, which is good on two counts - one, I thought they were sold out, and two, I won't have to get up at 6am tomorrow.

I have a blackberry 8820 which is holding up fine (aside from the voicemail icon not disappearing, and as much as I want an iPhone (and see that the pricing plan might be more attractive...) I'm going to as least wait for my contract to finish which will probably be enough to calm me down. If only I had a shittier phone...

I might get that mobile me service anyway, as it seems loads better than the .mac service was and when I eventually get an iphone (...) I'll be all set.
Toot toot.

More Google Maps Geekery! I was watching the news last night and saw an aerial shot of manatees in the water near a power plant (they go near some pipes that let warm water into the intracoastal so they can keep warm) and wondered if they could be seen from Google Maps.

They can!

Way more exciting than the Ron Paul supporters!

I picked up my new n97 yesterday.

It's lovely... but a warning... it's possibly a bit too new, and Nokia and Apple seem not really to have got around to implementing any support for it yet.

If I'd known this I might have waited a little before getting one. It *is* possible to get your numbers from your mac address book to your phone... but there about ten steps involved.
