Can anyone advise on where to start if I want to build an external firewire or USB mirrored-RAID case for 2*1TB drives (starting from no raw materials) with a good balance between cheapness and reliability?

Sad times. My first website was hosted on Geocities. It was on SunsetStrip.

Edit: I'd like to be able to track it down on the Internet Archive, but there's no chance of me remembering the twelve foot long url and any e-mails regarding the site would have been sent to my dad's email and probably long since deleted.

One is my Anorak skin...it's very rough around the edges, and still needs work, but, if anyone wants it, I'll post the URL here tomorrow....

EDITED TO ADD : I'm not gonna get much sleep with the heat and humidity tonight....it's here : http://userstyles.org/styles/19158

If anyone wants to tidy it up - feel free :)
I've done a bit of tidying up today. As 30-odd of you have downloaded the original skin, I thought I'd share the update with you...

WARNING : I have NOT kept the original version of the skin, if you think you may not like my tweaks, please save the original first.

The URL is the same : http://userstyles.org/styles/19158

Simply click 'Update in Stylish' (or 'Install in Stylish' if installing for the first time - if you don't already have it - Stylish is a Firefox add-on, you will need to have this first. It's here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108)

The changes I've made are as follows :

* Background : I've nuked the background shades - that was called 'Jangly tring to be too clever'. It looked a bit sloppy...the background colour is the same, but, without the shades - it's now one solid blue cover.

* Text boxes : Something I neve quite got around to last time. The text boxes (where you type your post) are now a dark navy colour. The text is white. I toyed with the idea of making the text a light blue to go with the theme, but, decided against it. The same goes for some buttons, search bars and 'file comment'.

This will probably sound like a stupid question....

I'm making a mix for someone....my envisaged inlay is a twinkly picture and blue text against a jet black background.

That's a lot of ink.

So, my idea is that I make the artwork/tracklist against a white (empty) background and then print it on black paper.

My question is, is there any way that this can do harm to my printer (Lexmark X1190)? I know that the answer should be no and that it's probably a stupid question, but, better safe than sorry....

I don't think it'd harm your printer at all but I'm not sure if it'd work very well. I think it would come out quite dark. I'd be interested to know how it goes though.

Quick question....about Skype/microphones....

My mic works, but, with occasional problems....
Firstly, I'm told that the P's and B's come out quite harshly at the other end....also, even when the mic is moved just a bit, it seems so create a lot of 'wind noise'.

I cannot find anything in advanced settings with regard to this.

Is there anything I can do, even if it's something to blunt the volume spikes generated?

Hey!

I have a stat counter thingy on my blog thingy. According to the stat counter thingy, some people are looking at my blog thing. How accurate would a stat counter thingy be? Are people really looking at my blog or is it some sort of interweb spambot fantom just looking to see if it can steal details to sell on?

I must admit....Im a little puzzled...

I've now had over 100 downloads. Some of you will have updated since I tidied it up, which counts as 2, but, that's still over 50 people.

Maybe I'm wrong, but, it would seem that this is more than post regularly on here. How does that work?

I'm contemplating making a purple one if/when I have the time...

For all those that use my Anorak skin, I've updated it today. I was going to do it this evening and get on with other stuff I really should be doing, but...

Anyway...a few fixes and a few changes...

* Anorak returned to full screen width
* Border around the User CP menubar is now navy blue
* Various little tweaks...mainly tidying up things I'd left unfinished before...
* Background to quoted text is now pale blue

On the latter, I'm not entirely happy with it...I got rid of the white background, but, am not sure about the pale blue colour....hmmm....

I had also thought of making a couple of things dark blue...the the bar showing the author of quoted text, the bar saying 'post a reply' etc...making it one step closer to a completely blue colour scheme...but, then I decided that it red bars against blue actually work well...so, in this version, I left that bit as is was...

The URL is the same : http://userstyles.org/styles/19158

Aside from the spelling, that's normal behaviour for guest accounts. I do agree that Linux is half-baked and Windows is tonnes better than it used to be.
