I haven't finished it. I stopped playing a couple of months ago when I started to dream in Fallout 3.

Now that that's started to happen with Assassin's Creed 2 it's time to get another new game...

Super Furry Daniel has lent it to me. I shall play it over xmas. Along with GTA4 : The Ballad Of Gay Tony (which I shall download tonight) and whatever I get given for xmas (which I'm anticipating being Batman : Arkham Asylum).

Assassin's Creed 2 is a beautiful game. The detail is absolutely immaculate, and while I found it a bit slow at first I've got really used to the pace of it now. I like the soundtrack to it too - it's very subtle and not at all intrusive, but it's just really nice. And not only does it look stunning, but the detail even extends to the fact that the music played around the Venetian Carnival scenes is genuine Italian Early Music. And of course, it's very satisfying assassinating baddies.

I have been very, very geeky and started playing Lord of the Rings online. it's the first proper online game I've tried and thankfully, although it's great, it is not so addictive that I am contemplating giving up on work and a social life to cram more hours in. Yet.

GROW UP!
Phew! I thought it was going to be some serious journalistic / pschoanalytical piece saying that grown ups playing computer games are deeply pathetic individuals who should get a life.

has anyone player total war: napoleon? is it better than the last one? the number of times i'm marching on paris with the ottomans only to have it crash is unbelievable. it was be amazing if it worked and eveything hadn't cost so much money and all the units hadn't been a bit similiar. in fact i've gone back to medieval 2, which remains amazing.

Ooh, thanks Jamie.

I was balls at Command and Conquer, and that won't have changed but much like Civilisation it has the power to absord 4-5 hours at a time.

In other game downloads for free - the hardest game ever made - http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/downloads.php

Also for spectrum fans http://zxspectrum.net/ all the joy without the loading times.

I'm really enjoying Spelunky at the moment. It's bastard hard, extremely unfair and occasionally frustrating, but really addictive. I like how the levels are randomly generated.

Get it for nowt from here:

I'm hopelessly addicted to Spelunky. I've beaten it nearly 20 times, and yet I still keep playing. It's the most addictive thing ever created by anyone.

Fellow lovers of the incredibly addictiveand time-sapping Civilization series may be interested and giddily excited to know tha Civilization V is due for release in Autumn! There's a trailer and a few screenshots here! Eeeee! Come Autumn, I will be eschewing all social engagements and human contact in order to attempt to takeover the rest of the known world and fail when France drive their tanks through all my cities.

Anything good on the xbox at the moment? I've finished Red Dead Redemption (about as far as I'm likely to... ie. the main story missions...) and I want something new...

All the good new games are coming out in October. You should explore what Xbox Arcade has to offer (if you haven't already). Limbo has been getting excellent reviews...

Other than that, Bioshock 2 is cheap at the moment. Left 4 Dead 2? Super Street Fighter 4? Xbox 360 is loaded with awesome games for dirt cheap these days.

I think i'm going to buy myself one of those new Xboxes in the next week or so. Having never really paid any attention to what games are available for it, what would everyone recommend? Doesn't have to be anything particularly new, just the 'classic' Xbox games really.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Not sure what you're in to, but I'd classify the MUST GETS as...

Modern Warfare 2
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Red Dead Redemption
Braid
Fallout 3
Limbo
Geometry Wars 2
The Orange Box
Peggle
Portal
Bioshock
Bioshock 2
GTA IV
Super Street Fighter IV
Mirrors Edge (just 'cos you can get it for about £3)
FIFA '10 / FIFA World Cup '10

The majority of those are available for under £10.
