Current evidence shows that I am exactly as good as Pete. Two games apiece, I believe? We must be due a DECIDER!

Also I'm posting from my android phone. Topical.

I'm still feeling inferior following the 122 pointer you played against me the other day. I shall get a move on with the game, I'm just a bit slow.

Marianthi introduced me to Word Feud, and then proceded to trounce me in our first game. I'm Muzzywick if anyone fancies a game. (I know it's a bit of a naff name, but I started using it on my Xbox 360 because everyone else had names like EliteAssassinUK, R00fle55-K1lla or MeNtAl_SnIpEr and it's just kinda stuck).

I used to regularly play Scrabble at http://www.ISC.ro and seem to have remembered a lot of the two letter words, but I sometimes feel a bit guilty using them - XU, QI, ZO, JO, AG etc. How do you lot feel about people playing obscure words against you? I used to hate it but have come to accept it now.

Finally, on a Scrabble theme, I recommend Word Freak by Stefan Fatsis; a great book and the subtitle teklls you all you need to know - Heartbreak, Triumph, Genius, and Obsession in the World of Competitive SCRABBLE Players.

I feel exactly the same - I tend to hold off on the two letter / odd words until an opponent has used them against me. Word Feud seems to use the dictionary that has loads of extra ones too, which doesn't help! It's a shame there's no reward for using nice words in clever / graceful ways in Scrabble but I can understand how that would be hard to work out a scoring system for!

That book sounds great, I'll definitely check it out. I really enjoyed the Word Wars documentary about competitive scrabble players, I'd recommend that to any fan of the game.

This is so not fair. I've played BONED and nobody's chatted me up yet.

So: what's the etiquette on Wordfeud for when someone is persistently trying to chat you up (despite not having played a filthy word) and you don't want to tell them to fuck off because they've opened up a lovely DW+TW space and you've got the letters?

We need a Wordfeud thread, don't we? So many important questions.

Keep hammering them with good words and they tend to quit! The last abusive person that I got resigned after I played RUINING for lots of points.

I think we just need a Scrabble (and related games) thread really. Then I can boast about my game on ISC.RO earlier where I made RECANTS and TALLYING in quick succession (I've been looking for somebody to tell ever since, can you tell)

OK, I'm getting a new phone. Thinking I'll stick with HTC. They're all good really aren't they? There's nothing I desperately need to avoid, right?

anyone else find that their phone starts running really badly just before a new firmware upgrade is available? i rarely use the phone's software on my pc, tend to just connect it to keep it charged or use windows explorer, but in the time i've had it there have now been two or three times when it has misbehaved to an irritating degree, then eventually i've realised maybe it needs upgrading. it almost seems like a signal from the manufacturer but i don't see how that's possible :-/

I've discovered a fantastic app called Book Catalogue. You just scan the bar code off the back of the book and it magically adds all the books details to a database. Over the weekend I kept popping to the bookcase and scanning a book or two and it made me giggley with glee. I now need one that does the same with records.

Spambots don't use the word 'glee' except when they're trying to sell 'glee' on DVD.

Anyone know a good music player for Android? I want one that'll be able to fetch and play mp3s that I store on Dropbox and stuff. Or 'sync with the cloud' if you want to be 'high-tech' about it.

I've not used it myself but Cloud Around gets recommended quite a bit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nd_premium
be popular play pop

Yesterday, I went and got myself a fancy new phone with fancy new Android 4.4 and enjoying setting it all up, instaling apps and getting it just how I like it and discovered that ghost commander (my favourite file manager app) can't write to the sd card. It turns out that this is something that has been disabled in Android 4.4. This means that I can no longer download files (mostly music but occasionly things to read) from my home server onto my phone and that I can't buy music from bandcamp and download it on my phone. Which despite all its super duper extra fanciness makes it a much worse phone for me than the old one. Grrrr. Apparently there may be a fix in Android 5 but that would require me getting an OS update which never happens. I'm going to see if EE will give me my money back.

That's odd, is that something specific to the phone? I'm on 4.4 and I've had no trouble downloading things to the SD card.

I actually get better download speeds to my phone than I do on my PC, which is oddly futuristic.
