You've all just caused me to go look at excite, the site I used for my first email. I went to go log in and it worked! There's a picture of San Francisco as my backdrop on the excite home page. However, it doesn't seem to load my email. I wonder if there are old emails in there waiting to be explored. *wistful*

http://www.altavista.com/ has been updated many times since I last used it I'm sure, but it still looks a bit quaint.
I used Alta Vista as well... and then one day I saw my work colleague Tom (who was in a band called Tele:funken) using Google, and I loved the way it said 25,240 results in 0.000053 seconds!

I used to use the one that had the dog on it - that was lycos wasn't it? And also yahoo. I think it's a bit odd that there is only one search engine that is used by everybody (unless you are a character in a tv show sponsored by microsoft - then you use bing). The others are all rubbish in comparison. I did quite like the idea of Wolfram Alpha but the reality of it didn't seemed to live up to my expectations.

Or unless you're in a tv show that's not sponsored by anbody. In which case you use searchthweb.com or internetsearch.com givemesomeanswersinternet.com

Does anyone else hate the "cleaner, more modern look" (=uglier conversation view) Gmail is going to have? I hate changes. :(

It's horrible, luckily you can choose a different theme, Themes tab under Settings.

"Some important features may not work in this version of your browser, so you have been redirected to the Basic HTML version. Upgrade to a modern browser, such as Google Chrome."

Is there any way around this? My emails look absolutely shoddy and incredibly basic, but I don't want to have to upgrade to a new browser just cos Google want me to. Grrr!

What browser are you using? Usually there's an option to see things the fancy way if you want to risk it, but if you can upgrade your browser there are usually plenty of good reasons to.
Toot toot.

I've just reported an email from google as spam to gmail. Have I broken the internet now?

The only reason I have a gmail account is for google play so the only emails I get on it are from google anyway.

I have to use Gmail at work. Does anyone know how to block or turn off the profile photos of other users?
