Re: Walking, then
Hmmm, good question... Upcoming free weekends include this weekend coming, the weekend of the fifth of June, the weekend of the 12th of June and any weekend in July apart from the weekend of the third or (clearly) indietracks.
Any of those work?

Shall we say 12 June then?jayen_aitch wrote:Hmmm, good question... Upcoming free weekends include this weekend coming, the weekend of the fifth of June, the weekend of the 12th of June and any weekend in July apart from the weekend of the third or (clearly) indietracks.

Sounds good to me, are we doing it come rain or shine, or taking a view on the day?

What do you reckon? I'd be inclined to see how the weather's unfolding earlier that week. But only call it off if it looks really atrocious. Otherwise we'll never get round to it at all!jayen_aitch wrote:Sounds good to me, are we doing it come rain or shine, or taking a view on the day?

Yeah I have always wanted to go to Spurn Head. The complications and impracticality of getting there have allways put me off, and I never thought it was worth a weekend away. I think it might be more interesting in bad weather although I guess the its more likely to get cut off. So If you have room for me I would love to come along.

Oh, and me +1 are doing the rest of the Thames Path this weekend, from Wallingford (that's as far as we got last year) upstream to the source, somewhere near Cirencester, camping on the way, over an easy 5 days. Anyone done it? Can you recommend good pubs on the way?

dudley is having a Walking Festival, I shit you not. Not real walking, though. It's a family thing.

I still haven't got properly back into walking since becoming a parent. Must do something about that.

*FIVE YEAR+ BUMP*
I've only recently discovered the joys of walking. Myself and my girlfriend have taken to getting trains from Bromley or Waterloo and doing walks from the Time Out Book of Country Walks.
It's great! I experience such joy being out of the city. And when you get to have a nice pint at the end of one...the best feeling.
This was a good one - http://www.walkingclub.org.uk/book_1/wa ... ndex.shtml

The walking I do these days is more sort of walking out of the city and round the edgeland parts, in a more or less unplanned way. It's pretty fucking liberating.

Browns Bay
Takapuna Milford
Northcote Point
North Shore Literary
Some walks around the inner part of the North Shore in Auckland. They're nicely put together and the actual booklets are really nice objects. They were done a few years ago now and aren't being reprinted, so they're quite hard to come by. I know where there's a box of the Literary Walks one though, if anyone would like a copy.
