Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?

Post by Pic 'n' Mixx » Mon Jul 26, 2010 21:20

What a fabulous Indietracks!

I'm astonished by how many of you not only made CDs for the swap, but spent so very long crafting them... I kept popping back in to see the box get fuller and fuller over the weekend, and even had a little nosey at the artwork. I saw a particularly amazing animal-themed compilation and in one very special case, found a CD in a brown envelope complete with an adorable hand-made finger-puppet and flipbook too! Jealous of the person who got that.

And there was one guy I spoke to who said he'd spent the past two months figuring out what to put on the compilation, which made my weekend. I'm thrilled to have brought the box down for the weekend, and it was great chatting to you CD-making folks when I was around in the marquee. I'm just about to put the CD I got on the stereo, and it's without a tracklist so ultra-exciting.

Oh and thanks for making the Pic 'n' Mixx campsite disco a great one! I had a marv time DJing.

Now, you lot... what CDs did you get? This is the sort of thing I'm going to squeal over, now I've got you all in the one place - it's not so easy to track conversation at my London nights! Which hopefully, I'll be seeing you soon at.

Love... x

It's a great idea and thanks for organising it. I'm amazed that someone took my effort, hastily prepared 1st thing on Saturday morning and consisting of twee covers and Wave Pictures oddities. Either someone took it or it fell on the floor.

I've got one of MJ Hibbett's offerings, a female dominated affair, which I'm looking forward to checking out.

I got an ace comp from 'pde2701'. It was beautifully presented and I don't know any of the songs on the compilation which is always good. I was made up to see mine disappear from the box too - Hope whoever got it is enjoying those busted stickers. Big up to Indian Summer who launched the mix tape box at indietracks 2008!

LULZ

i got a rather lovely-looking compilation that promised to be a wildly eclectic mix of stuff from gangsta rap to k-pop. the Allo Darlin' album has rather dominated the record player thus far since we got home, but i'm looking forward to spinning this one anyway!

i wonder who got my tape

I got Oxo Foxo's mega pop mix, which looks to be a storming compilation. And also reminds me of the excellent moment before Internet Forever's set when the huge, almost empty shed was filled with the dulcet tones of Daniel Bedingfield. And it was excellent.

Hope my mix went to a good home!

I got a mix called Now I Hear The Train which has the splendid Hardy Boys on it. And quite a few things I've never heard. I confess I spent five minutes scrutinizing track listings.

Should have just closed my eyes and put my hand in.

It was in the merch tent all weekend!

Invading the campsite was horribly easy too. "Have you pitched up yet mate?" "Yes." Problem solved.

Ooh, I wonder who got mine?? I put my email address on the tracklisting so if whoever picked it up wants to they can let me know what they think..... positive or negative feedback welcome!

When I got there to choose a compilation a lot of them had already gone but I chose 'summer mix 2010' at random. Haven't listened to it yet but will do at some stage :)

I chose 'Summer In The City' which looked to have some delights on it. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but may do tonight when I sort out my Indietracks photos.

Did anyone pick out 'Feel-All-Better Medicine'? That was mine. Let me know if you like it/what you think...

I got one called 'Trains?' where all songs are train related and all but one actually have the word train in it.
Haven't had chance to play it yet but I'm looking forward to hearing something by 'The Hermione Crookshanks Experience'

No name on it so I don't know who to thank, but thanks anyway mystery person.

Nice touch to draw a steam train on the cd itself, you're probably in the wrong job!

Oh, marvellous! I do hope you enjoy it - I wasn't sure what sort of theme to do, so decided upon the best and classicest of my Pop-O-Matic choons, as that's pretty much my favourite type of music! Also, I have to apologise and alert you, a few of the tracks are loads louder than the others and I didn't have time to sort them out so I'm really sorry if you get a track which is really loud all of a sudden. I remember Kylie was one... Anyway, as it say on the front, I hope you like it. I also hope you like the sticky stars. Please try to affix them to as many people as possible.

I picked out a mysterious mix called "It Makes The Room Look Bigger". I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but I intend to take it out on a walk sometime soon! Whose is it? What is the meaning of the title? Am I a worthy recipient? Don't tell me what's on it though, I am really excited about the surprise and am greatly savouring it!

Ahh, mix CDs yay.

Just listened to my cd. Wow, not a duff track on it, but if I was to pick favourites I'd go for The Ballet and The Just Joans though I feel I'm being unfair to a dozen other tracks.

So thanks Martin Stocks, whoever you may be.

That's my partner's mix! So it contains a lot of 'my' music. o_O I know he worked hard on putting the tracklisting and artwork together though so he'll be pleased to hear this.

I should have picked out a CD earlier on Sunday as there were only 3 left Sunday night when I went to collect mine. Got an undecorated CD in an envelope with no tracklisting and simply some writing on the envelope saying sorry for no tracklisting. :-( I haven't listened to it yet.

The one I made was polka dotty and covered in ribbons and letters and full of jangle pop. I hope someone likes it a lot!
There's more than one use for every part
