I have a really fabulous mix CD of pure POP that wants to go to a new home. Please someone grab me and whisper where I can, hopefully, exchange it. (Just not at noon on one of the days, please. That's too early for me!)
There's more than one use for every part

It just goes to show that there's some deluded self-important wankers out there...

I'd guess that almost every act who've ever played Indietracks would be pleased if one of their tracks was on a mixtape - it's one of the few ways since Peelie died that people actually find out about new music (see also Dandelion Radio link below), so if your music is good, then people who discover it on a mixtape will go out and buy a CD or a download of it.

Of course if your music is shit, it may be that you can delude yourself into thinking that when your album sells 3 copies it is the illegal sharing that is depriving you of the additional 99,997 sales, rather than no-one except your mum wanting to touch it with a shitty stick.
Cheers!

It was a Birmingham. A Birmingham who is not on Anorak.

But it was Birminghams (or mostly Birminghams/token Birminghams) who instigated Indie Space Dogs, which was the thoroughly unofficial alternative to the traditional swap.
I am struck speechless by the nape of your neck.

You saved it well Birminghams. I think Gordon McIntyre got my CD. I've never been so glad not to have put Ballboy on a mix!

Noddy Holder is not from Birmingham, nor has he ever lived in Birmingham. You massive racist.

I'd forgotten Gordon might be involved, a ballboy song got cut at the last minute *phew*

After worrying that I'd make a mix for no one and get none in return, I am the grateful and proud receipient of two ace mixes from Indietracks!

The first is from Irene, one of the Madrid Popfest organisers, who heard I wanted someone to exchange with. She just walked up to me and asked to do so! Great.

The second is from Leon Hobbes Fanclub who was just so thoughtful and generous and said the nicest things and handed me/us his mix. How I love the Indietracks spirit. <3

Here is Irene's mix to me:
1. Apple Boutique - Love Resistance
2. Comet Gain - Labour
3. Princeton - The Waves
4. Summer Cats - Bed Wetter
5. The Icicles - Regret
6. Liechtenstein - Passion For Water (*The* single of Indietracks!)
7. Jeanette - Por Que Te Vas
8. Seapony - I Never Would
9. Family - Portugal
10. Allo Darlin - Still Young
11. Los Lagos de Hinault - El Correo Del Zar
12. Generationals - Trust
13. The Agency - Bumpers
14. French Films - Take You With Me
15. Eux Autres - Molly
16. Shop Assistants - Safety Net
17. Language of Flowers - Where You Belong
18. New Order - Your Silent Face
19. Throw That Beat in the Garbage Can - Like a Baby
20. Happy Supply - Theme Song (an old band from Chicago!)
21. Le Mans - Un Rayo de Sol
22. The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group - My Foolish Heart
23. The Ladybug Transistor - Choking on Air
24. Trashcan Sinatras - Circling the Circumference
And here's the gift from Leon:
1. Catnaps - Infinity
2. Cola Jet Set - Candy
3. The Holiday Crowd - A Tender Age
4. Frankie Avalon - Venus
5. The Velvet Underground - Femme Fatale
6. Brenda Holloway - Every Little Bit Hurts
7. Stina Nordenstam - Hopefully Yours
8. The Jam - Liza Radley
9. Kirsty MacColl - See That Girl
10. The Bluebells - Cath
11. Boa Constrictor - Your Voice Was Like Bowie's
12. The Boo Radleys - Does This Hurt?
13. We Need Secrets - Melancholy
14. Clams - P-nut Butter Irony
15. The Boo Radleys - Boo Forever
16. Drop Nineteens - Kick the Tragedy
17. The Telescopes - You Set My Soul
18. Teenage Fanclub - Everything Flows (Alt. version)
There's more than one use for every part

He looked quite pleased with it. And I'm sure he was right to be.
Hope the one you got was okay. I doubt it opened up great new musical frontiers for you, looking back at it.

Swap went well, though, I thought. I have been playing mine pretty much since I left Ripley.

Au contraire! I actually have very little that's on it. Thanks!
Thanks for not making it Indie Bats From Space too, that B would have almost definitely led to a Ballboy song being on it.

I dropped "A Day In Space" at the last minute, for a similar reason.
I also dropped "He was a Steppenwolf" by Boney M, but if you feel the lack of this song in your life, let me know.

Driving to work yesterday to "its the year 2000, is there anyone out there/if you're from another planet wave (put?) your hands in the air!" really made the journey easier. I was travelling through Paisley, grinning to myself. Ta, Ray. And sorry if I got the lyrics wrong.

Don't apologise to me, apologise to Mr. Frigid Vinegar. I think it's "put your hands in the air."

That is a classic example of a song that is simultaneously shit and brilliant.

Listening to my mix this morning I was thinking it a little bit odd that the one artist that appears on both the mix I made and the one I received was Nina Simone!

I really don't think it is ironic. This was the follow-up single. I've always had a thing for poorly recorded sample-based music :-)

Nina Simone! everyone else is so full of class. Mine was very much straight-forward pop music with tenuous links to dogs/space.
