This is my first post having felt compelled to join after my second wonderful Indietracks weekend.

My personal highlight was witnessing the choo choo trains charming everyone that had the pleasure to see them.

Their tape has been on repeat since we came home.

I really enjoyed my first Indietracks experience. Unfortunately, I did not get to see as many bands as I wanted because my daughter is far more sociable than me and made many friends, with whom she wanted to play with all weekend.

My highlight was Northern Spies, not just the great set on the train but Astrid being lovely enough to perform a song on the platform just for my daughter afterwards. Having a one-off performance from your favourite singer at your first festival will be a hard act to follow for my daughter.

Also loved Bis, Cars Can Be Blue, Fever Dream, The Tuts (who were also very nice to my daughter who accosted them at every opportunity), Milky Wimpshake, The Beautiful Word, Bloomer and The Art Club.

I missed a hella bunch of bands as I do every year. I also didn't get to talk to a whole bunch of people as much as I would have liked, again this happens every year.

On the upside, I did see and love:

Wimpshake
Martha
ONSIND (sorry, y'all)
Cars Can Be Blue
Pete Dale in the merch tent
Colour Me Wednesday
Ace Bushy Striptease
Mark Monnone
Helen Love
Good Grief
Kid Canaveral

Gutted to have missed:
Pete Green
EXPENSIVE
Brilliant Corners
The Choo Choo Trains
David Leach
Frozy
Lard Pony
The Mini Skips
Northern Spies
When Nalda Became Punk
Woog Riots
Haiku Salut
The Middle Ones

I caught bits and bobs of other bands which were great but I'm not mentioning them cos I missed most of their set and I don't wanna be a FAKER.

I had superfun DJing at the campsite, there were loads of things I was excited to play but never got aorund to. Thanks to anyone who checked it out/danced.

I was really bummed out about Stolen Wine Social Club being cancelled on Saturday, I have STILL not made it to one of their nights.

Indiepop Sing-a-long was properly lovely and brilliant. I was mostly miming cos my voice was (and still is) fucked.

There's loads more I could say but my brain is still a bit fried and I have a stupid jobinterview to go to so I'm not ON FOCUS right now.

See you all next year!

xx

My photo album on Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/stefano.bartol ... 696&type=1

It was alla amazing, meeting all the lovely people I met last year, meeting someone new, listening to all the wonderful live music, enjoying the good vibes. Everything was perfect, and there was no bands I didn't like. Of course I liked some bands more than others, but everyone was at least nice, no less. My highlights: bis, The Just Joans, The Secret History, Haiku Salut

Yes, I couldn't stop, BUT, I had to half sleep for 30 mins on Sunday afternoon, lying on the grass, so I missed Fear Of Men, which everyone reported to be amazing.

We need to find a word for Indietracks Tuesday - Everything Else Seems Irrelevant Day, or something.

Everything else seems irrelevant.

My best moment of all was watching Helen Love with Ralph. He doesn't like watching bands ever but the prospect of going on stage and firing a glittergun persuaded him to come down the front and dance with me. And then going on stage during Helen Love was just impossibly exciting.

Other highlights:

watching The Pastels in the rain
Martha
The Middle Ones
EXPENSIVE
meeting Dennis for the first time
Milky Wimpshake
people singing along at indiepop singalong
The Wendy Darlings at singalong
Ray letting Ralph have a go on his steward's walkie talkie to a confused Niall Spook School at the other end
Spook School in the merch tent
Pete Green's impeccable timing on the train (I'm sure he must have spent weeks going up and down the track in the train to get it so spot on)
listening to the thunder storm in the tent trying to distract Ralph from being scared
the Friday and Sunday campsite discos

and probably loads of other stuff that are not coming to my mind now

There's loads of stuff I'm really sad to have missed, especially: Mini Skips, Just Joans, Colour Me Wednesday, Saturday night campsite disco.

Thank you somuch to every one involved in organising. It is the high point of each year and makes my life so much happier.

Is it next year next?

Fantastic time at Indietracks. So many highlights. Owl and Mouse on a train, seeing The Magic Theatre do three Ooberman songs, including Shorley Wall, Bis and The Tuts tearing up the outdoor stage. Great event. Here's a little video I made of it...tried to get it all into two and half minutes. Thanks so much to The Tuts for letting me use their track Tut Tut Tut.

Well, that was rather wonderful, wasn't it? MASSIVE HUGS to Team Indietracks and the Midland Railway volunteers once again, for making the world alright. Pop boy pop girl we love you.

I was quite Bad At Seeing Bands this year and missed loads of the ones I wanted to see, while I was getting drunk with Robberie and taking my son to see the owls and stuff… but that's just the way it goes some years so you just have to accept it – and of the bands I did see at least in part, I really liked The Fireworks, Finnmark!, Jupiter in Jars, Good Grief, Seabirds, The Secret History, The Tuts (of course!), the Understudies and Colour Me Wednesday in the merch tent – well done everyone!

I am always quite Bad At Remembering Highlights (or Getting The Time And Energy To Type Them Up), so it's not often I actually post on these threads. However! Here are some of the things I loved most…

Bis! You're so discooo-oooooo-woh-oooooooh!

meeting several lovely people for the first time like Toni, Dennis and Shaun, and all the rest of you lovely people who I don't get to see very often

our new (ish) Sheffield friend Kelly coming to Indietracks for the first time and having her birthday there and having the best time ever

getting the First Pint Of The Day served on the festival site, at 11:59am on Sunday – it very much seems to me that Rapture IPA was the lubrication that kept the wheels of Indietracks 2013 turning smoothly throughout

playing one of my best-received solo gigs ever, people joining in the singing with 'They Played My Song on Radio 1' who I don't think had ever heard it before, seeing all your lovely faces while I played and my son's even lovelier face in the middle, all lit up and stuff (until he got bored halfway through), managing to muddle through the slow picky songs despite nervyshakyhandness while the train was stopped and hushed, taking my sunglasses off before they slipped off, and the aforesaid Amazing Example of Synchronisation when the train pulled back into Swanwick Junction just as the final chords of 'Everything I Do is Gonna be Sparkly' played out

the sweet little girl (Amy) who asked me for an autograph on the platform afterwards!

Haiku Salut. Haiku Salut. HAIKU SALUT! Wondrous, wondrous

Indiepop Singalong – do what Markie said, people – set up your own Indiepop Singalong franchise down your local pub, épater les hipsters (ou les hommes vieux) – Mark will charge you only a minimal percentage and agrees to manage any adverse PR situation arising in the event of more toddlers learning all the lyrics of 'Who's Got The Crack?'

the girl who told me on Sunday night that she'd been inspired to start writing songs by seeing my set that morning and starting running some lyrics past me

taking my son to see the owls – owls are awesome as a general concept and these were particularly fine examples; let's hear it for the parrots as well though – I feel the parrots have been unfairly overlooked on this thread

VEGGIE FISH AND CHIPS – quite outstanding; this must return next year (with mushy peas); also Heather running Gopal's – the die was to dhal for

going to the campsite on Monday morning for the first time in about five years and experiencing the staff being weird again within five minutes of arriving when I asked for scrambled eggs in the café

getting scrambled eggs at the café (despite being a Premier Innterloper)

oh yeah, and this:

Cracking time had once again - so many great things to report.....

All the real ales I tried, especially Sand In The Wind (from Denby way!) and Mellow Yellow... I'm a huge advocate of strong IPA style beers at Indietracks :)
Owls, and unofficially naming one of them Ian
Dancing like a lunatic to Ray's banging DJ set on Friday night
Sweating out all the toxins in my body on Saturday morning whilst watching Astrid on the steam train (I've been in colder saunas I reckon)
Watching nearly all the merch tent sets
Emma Kupa starting her set early on the platform
Being mesmerised by Stephen from The Pastels with his slow, languid chat between songs
Not having to watch Camera Obscura in a monsoon
The well-mannered security who kept my friend's contraband for him and let him collect it later!
Meeting lots of lovely people at the CD swap on Sunday morning
The indoor stage running late on Sunday, enabling me to see all of Kid Canaveral and Making Marks
The people who were handing round Buckfast at the campsite discos
GLITTER ROCKETS
Sing-along in the sand pit
Getting my funk on to disco hits in the shed on Sunday evening

Why can't this happen every weekend! Thanks again to all the work put in by the organisers.... roll on 2014 :)

I completely forgot about the CD swap (I was on the train watching Pete and then just walked away) until I spotted Ian Elvistears later during Making Marks (I think). Luckily he still had a CD leftover to swap (which I haven't heard yet).
