I've been meaning to reply to this thread and just had a lovely chat over dinner about how ace Indietracks is and got a bit sad that it's over for another year.

It was all wonderful but my particular highlights were Ray's campsite disco (I'm not very good at staying awake for entire discos but I was properly drunk and it was SO much fun), meeting Mark Monnone during Camera Obscura (!), going on the middle sized train with the extremely happy driver, being recognised by Christine from Milky Wimpshake in the dark, seeing old friends... The Sunday night singalong was great, I was informed the train was sweltering so didn't manage to go on Saturday but on the beach, with some jingle bells! Brilliant. Also, I learnt that I need to pay attention in order to avoid being roped into leading a singalong song by just shouting enthusiastically that, yes I did agree that it was a good song choice.

I can't wait till next time! Especially because I still haven't been on the minature railway...

Haha, it is me (Verity, hi!) and you must not have noticed when I got incredibly grumpy on the last night in Madrid and was trying to sleep on the sofas at 4am ;) Those Spanish kids are party animals!

Yes, I didn't notice, I wasn't probably looking at sofas because I was busy being a party animal too :)

Here I'll just post one from the magical singalong that ended it all. The sky looks a bit magical, too.
I'm in that picture with the wife next to me, well where else would she be? Oh dear, I hope that was taken during one of our better performances.

Here's what Haiku Salut's lamp show looked like...

Funny Indietracks for me this year. Our boys weren't really enjoying the music, we hardly saw any bands, had a bit of leaky tent on the Saturday night, and drove home Sunday morning. Trust me, Indietracks comedown hurts even more when the festival's still going on...

Still, roll on next year!

I just looked in the bottom of my bag and found a dogeared print out of this years schedule and the wrapper for my adult poncho.

I have a pile of stuff from indietracks next to the tv that has a similar effect on me every time I look at them but can't quite bear to put them away yet:

it was bloody ace. I know i'm a bit late with this but yeah, it was awesome wasn't it. it's not as fresh in my memory now but it was all great. I cant remember not enjoying any of it. i'd say if I was asked to compile a shoddy list of half remembered highlights (which I haven't been) i'd have to say

Helen Love (Obviously)

The pub crawl walk from Alfreton to Butterly on Saturday morning / afternoon which meant I missed three acts I wanted actually really to see

a mass of people waving at me (they were waving at me, not the train in general) as I waved to them from the light gauge railway like the gentleman from the Railway Children

Gopals goes without saying doesn't it

The Lovely Eggs

The Crowd down the front before Helen love (apart from those two guys... those guys... what were they doing there? you know the guys I mean, one of them left half way through but the other guy stayed for the duration, what was wrong with him? Stood there stock still, not singing, not dancing, not clapping... ) especially the members of Better Than Nothing - our newly formed Helen Love tribute band.. that's still happening, right?

the guy from Lardponys beard

Good Grief being perfect for that point of the festival, a perfectly timed change of gear.

oh and Helen Love being everything I could've dared wish and way more.

that makes it sound like I only saw four bands... i'm sure I saw more but it's taken me so long to get back on here.... ah it was all brilliant.

I just wanted to add my undying love for both Gopals' and the amazing Mexican Food stall from this year's indietracks. Never has a £6 burrito felt so right.

My highlights from this year:

Haiku Salut lamp show - I was in awe.
Martha didn't start the fire!
ONSIND/Ace Bushy tent performances
Finally seeing the Lovely Eggs live
The Beautiful Word in the Church on Sunday (that sounds more religious than I intended)
David Leach's Church set was pretty good as well!
EXPENSIVE in the Church
The Middle Ones in the Church.
- Basically, everything we saw in the Church!

I wish indietracks was every weekend basically.

Not just Lardpony, pretty much everything was fucking terrific, but I just remebered this morning exactly how fucking terrific Lardpony were.

I have to stop now as I'm getting the urge to write a full, belated review, gushing about Frozy and The Fireworks and The McTells... and and and... and, surprisingly, The Brilliant Corners who I didn't particularly care for first time round, but were staggeringly good.

I remember standing in line at Golden Valley on the Friday, and all around me I recognised faces from Facebook, anorak, Bowlie, flickr, et cetera. It was a bit intimidating. I think Tonieee was the first one I dared to introduce myself to. But later so, so many followed.

For those of you who were on Bowlie back in the day, you may remember there was this thread called 'Bowlies I recently met for the first time' or something along those lines. I remember reading about these first meetings, which seemed to be quite unique and special then, even for those not living too far apart within the UK. Most of us were strangers, even some anoraks who now are longtime friends. For just one example: can you imagine a time where A Fog Of Ideas and A Layer Of Chips hadn't met yet? I remember reading about it in that thread. Not necessarily jealous, but curious. At the risk of sounding creepy, I did occassionally imagine what some of you would be like in real life.

I think it's quite amazing and fabulous (first time ever I use that word, I think) that every person I had been aware of in their online version before that I met at Indietracks 2013 was almost exactly the way I imagined them. No fakes. Anorak seems to be full of authenticity and honesty.

I'd say in 2013 this indiepop community (for lack of a better word) is much less a community of strangers and 'online only' friends than it was 7 years ago. There's so many shows, popfests and other festivals, it's incredible.

I'm very glad to have met so many of you, anorak. Thanks, Indietracks!
